Krispy Kreme Offers Free Doughnuts for Mardi Gras
Krispy Kreme is marking Mardi Gras with a free doughnut giveaway for customers who show up ready to celebrate.
On Tuesday, Feb. 17, the doughnut chain will give one free Original Glazed doughnut to guests who wear Mardi Gras beads to participating locations. The offer is valid in store and at drive-thru windows, and no purchase is required. The promotion is limited to one doughnut per guest.
“Break out the beads ... and enjoy the glaze! Krispy Kreme has a ‘sweet’ deal for Mardi Gras revelers,” the company said in an announcement.
How the Mardi Gras Deal Works
To receive the free doughnut, customers simply need to wear Mardi Gras beads when visiting a Krispy Kreme shop on Feb. 17. The giveaway applies only to the Original Glazed doughnut and cannot be combined with other offers. Availability may vary by location.
Mardi Gras, also known as Fat Tuesday, is the day before Ash Wednesday and marks the beginning of Lent. Lent is a 40 day period of fasting and reflection observed by many Christians before Easter Sunday. Because many people give up indulgent foods during Lent, Fat Tuesday has traditionally been a day of celebration and rich treats.

The Mardi Gras giveaway comes less than a week after another major Krispy Kreme promotion. On Feb. 13, the company celebrated Friday the 13th by giving away 13,000 Original Glazed dozen boxes to randomly selected guests at participating U.S. locations.
Earlier this month, the chain also rolled out a Valentine’s Day collection available through Feb. 14. The lineup featured four themed doughnuts, including the I Love You a Choco-Lot doughnut, described as an unglazed heart-shaped doughnut filled with chocolate-flavored cream, dipped in red vanilla-flavored icing and topped with a chocolate icing ribbon and bow.
Other limited time offerings included the Teddy Bear Cookies & Kreme doughnut, the You’re Berry Sweet doughnut and the Sprinkled with Love doughnut.
