Dunkin’ is extending its Super Bowl celebration beyond the television screen with a nationwide giveaway tied directly to its nostalgic commercial that aired during Super Bowl LX. On Monday, February 9, the doughnut and coffee chain is giving out 1.995 million free iced coffees to customers across the United States.

The figure is a reference to 1995, the year in which Dunkin’ set its Super Bowl commercial and a pivotal moment in the brand’s history. According to the company, that year marked the first time Dunkin’ advertised iced coffee.

A Nod to Dunkin’s Iced Coffee Origins

“Back in 1995, iced coffee wasn’t exactly everywhere,” the brand said in a release. “In fact, 1995 marked the first year Dunkin’ advertised iced coffee starring none other than Fred the Baker.”

The promotion is valid for iced coffees of any size and can be redeemed through the Dunkin’ app by entering the code GOODWILLDUNKIN. The deal is available for one day only and is intended to mirror the retro theme of the Super Bowl commercial.

Revisiting ‘Good Will Dunkin’

The giveaway follows the debut of Dunkin’s Super Bowl commercial titled “Good Will Dunkin’,” which aired during the Big Game on Sunday, February 8. The ad marked Ben Affleck’s fourth Super Bowl appearance for the brand and presented itself as a “never aired” sitcom pilot from 1995.

The commercial spoofed elements of Good Will Hunting, the 1997 film Affleck co-wrote and starred in alongside Matt Damon. The original film earned the pair an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

Sitcom Legends Fill the Screen

“Good Will Dunkin’” leaned heavily into 1990s television nostalgia, assembling a cast of sitcom actors who defined the era. The spot featured Jennifer Aniston and Matt LeBlanc from Friends, Jason Alexander from Seinfeld, Ted Danson from Cheers, Jaleel White from Family Matters, Jasmine Guy from A Different World, and Alfonso Ribeiro from The Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

Former NFL quarterback Tom Brady also appeared in the ad, adding another layer of star power to the already packed cast.

Alfonso Ribeiro Reflects on the Experience

Speaking with PEOPLE ahead of the commercial’s release, Ribeiro described the decade as a high point for television comedy.

“I really had great joy that day to be able to shoot and talk with everyone,” Ribeiro said. “And there was such a fun confidence in the room where everybody kind of knew what we were all doing. We had done so many episodes of sitcoms and being able to play together in a room was really cool.”

He added that the scope of the project left a lasting impression on those involved.

“I think everyone really was a little bit in awe of what we were all doing,” Ribeiro said.

Blending Nostalgia and Promotion

By pairing a throwback Super Bowl commercial with a large scale iced coffee giveaway, Dunkin’ connected its current marketing push with a defining moment in its brand history. The promotion highlights how the company continues to lean into nostalgia while promoting products that have since become central to its identity.

For fans who enjoyed the Super Bowl ad, the free iced coffee offer offers a tangible extension of the moment, turning a nostalgic commercial into a nationwide promotion.
