Taco Bell Just Put a Churro Ice Cream Taco on the Menu
Have you been missing the days when an ice cream taco could solve all your dessert problems? Taco Bell has something new for you.
On September 1st, Taco Bell and Salt & Straw teamed up to bring an ice cream taco to restaurants all across the nation. Taco Bell’s new Churro Ice Cream Taco puts a cinnamon-spiked spin on the nostalgic frozen treat, with churro ice cream, a crispy waffle cone shell, and plenty of chocolatey crunch.
There's just one catch: it's only sticking around for a limited time.
What's Inside the Churro Ice Cream Taco?
This isn't a scoop of vanilla tucked inside a taco-shaped cone. Salt & Straw created a brand-new Churro Ice Cream specifically for the collaboration.
The finished Churro Ice Cream Taco includes:
Churro Ice Cream
A crispy waffle cone shell
Puffed rice
A dark chocolate-flavored coating
So, we're getting creamy ice cream on the inside and plenty of crunch on the outside. The new dessert costs $3.99 at participating Taco Bell restaurants, although prices and participation can vary by location.
There's also a limit of five per order, per person.
The Ice Cream Taco Has Some History at Taco Bell
If this combination sounds familiar, there's a reason for that. Taco Bell and ice cream tacos have crossed paths before.
Back in 2022, Taco Bell teamed up with Klondike to test the original Choco Taco at select restaurants in Los Angeles and Milwaukee. Klondike discontinued the Choco Taco later that year, leaving plenty of fans mourning the loss of a waffle-cone treat.
This new Taco Bell ice cream taco isn't a Choco Taco revival. Instead, Taco Bell and Salt & Straw have created their own version of the idea, complete with a new churro flavor.
This Isn't Taco Bell and Salt & Straw's First Dessert
The two brands have been playing around with an ice cream taco idea for a while. In 2025, they introduced the Tacolate, a limited-edition dessert available through Salt & Straw.
That version featured cinnamon ancho chili ice cream inside a handmade waffle cone, along with chocolate and toasted brown rice. According to Taco Bell, the Tacolate sold out during its launch weekend and drew long lines at Salt & Straw shops.
Apparently, people weren't finished with the idea. This time, the Salt & Straw Taco Bell collaboration is reaching a much bigger audience by putting the new dessert directly into Taco Bell restaurants.
There's an Ice Cream Taco You Can Drink, Too
Taco Bell has also decided that one form of ice cream taco wasn't enough. Select Live Más Café locations are also serving a Salt & Straw Choco-Waffle Chiller for a limited time.
The frozen drink starts at $4.69 and includes:
A vanilla ice cream base
Churro crumbles
Waffle cone pieces
Whipped cream
Extra waffle cone pieces
A crackable chocolatey shell
The Chiller isn't getting the same nationwide rollout as the taco. It's limited to participating Live Más Café locations in California, Las Vegas, Houston, and Dallas.
Taco Bell Has Another Treat Coming September 8th
Rewards members will have another chance to get in on the ice cream taco action on September 8th. At 2 pm PT, Taco Bell is holding a Tuesday Drop through its app.
Rewards members can enter for a chance to win one of 100 limited-edition Salt & Straw x Taco Bell coolers. Each one comes with three Churro Ice Cream Tacos and a custom sticker sheet.
There's no purchase necessary to enter, but you'll need to be a Taco Bell Rewards member and meet the sweepstakes’ eligibility requirements.
Don't Wait Too Long for This Taco
Unlike most of Taco Bell's new menu items, this one isn't pretending to be dinner. It's cold, covered in chocolate, shaped like a taco, and filled with churro ice cream. We know exactly what we're getting into here.
The bigger question is how long we'll have to get one. Taco Bell hasn't announced a final date for the nationwide run, and the Churro Ice Cream Taco is only available at participating restaurants while supplies last.
So, if an ice cream taco sounds like the right way to send summer packing, this one is worth ordering before it melts off the menu.
