Jodie Sweetin is sharing a wild behind-the-scenes story about her late "Full House" TV dad, Bob Saget, and it involves a drive-by shooting.

The actress, who played Stephanie Tanner on the hit sitcom, told the story during a "Full House" cast panel at '90s Con on Sunday, Parade reported. She said Saget got her to safety after gunfire shattered the window of the car she was sitting in when she was a kid.

"Pop Pop Pop"

Sweetin, now 44, said the incident happened in the late '80s or early '90s, on a night out to see a Janet Jackson concert. The group was parked outside a venue when the car window suddenly shattered.

"It was a drive-by," Sweetin said. "I leaned over to tie my shoes and it's just like 'pop pop pop' and the whole thing shattered."

She believes leaning down to tie her shoes may have kept her from being hit, EntertainmentNow reported. She was in the car with Candace Cameron Bure's sisters at the time.

The group ran from the car and waited for two station wagon taxis to pick them up, since this was long before ride-share apps existed. They ended up arriving late to the concert.

Saget Took Her Home

Saget, who was acting as Sweetin's chaperone that night, made sure she got home safely. He drove her back himself and explained to her mother what had happened.

That did not exactly win him points with her mom. "So between that and the Laugh Factory, Bob was not always my mom's favorite," Sweetin joked, referring to Saget's famously adult stand-up comedy.

Sweetin admitted her memory of the details is a little hazy, since she was so young at the time. Even decades later, the story feels unreal to her. "I was there and I doubt that it happened, but it actually did," she said.

Castmates Confirm the Story

Sweetin was joined on the panel by Bure, John Stamos, Lori Loughlin, Dave Coulier, Andrea Barber and Scott Weinger.

Some of them were there that night. Bure, 50, confirmed she was part of the outing and said nine people went along. Weinger, 51, also backed Sweetin up. "This is a true story. I was there," he said, joking that his reaction at the time was, "L.A.'s exciting."

Stamos, 63, who was not there, was stunned. After learning it happened during the show's seventh season, he wondered aloud why the press never reported it. EntertainmentNow, which attended the panel, noted that the story rests on the cast members' memories, with no police reports or other records cited.

Remembering Bob Saget

Saget, who played widowed dad Danny Tanner, died on Jan. 9, 2022, at age 65. He was found in his hotel room at the Ritz-Carlton Orlando, Grande Lakes, and an autopsy found he died from blunt head trauma after an unwitnessed fall, the Daily Mail reported.

His former castmates have kept his memory alive in the years since. Sweetin said Saget would be happy to know they are still telling stories about him. "Bob's just glad we're all still talking about him. Really, truly," she said.

His widow, Kelly Rizzo, has also been open about her grief. In an Instagram post earlier this month, she wrote, "Grief morphs and changes forms and evolves over time," adding, "I still feel guilty for feeling happy." The couple met on social media in 2015 and married in Santa Monica, California, in October 2018.

"Full House" ran from 1987 to 1995, and Sweetin later returned as Stephanie in the Netflix revival "Fuller House." Off screen, she married her husband, Mescal Wasilewski, in 2022.
