"All That" Star Christy Knowings Dead at 46 Following Asthma Attack

Christy Knowings, best known for her three seasons on Nickelodeon's "All That," has died at 46 following complications from a severe asthma attack, multiple outlets reported Wednesday.

According to TMZ, a family member said Knowings suffered the attack on August 7, which led to brain damage. She was hospitalized and placed on life support. Her family made the decision to remove her from life support Tuesday, and she died that evening at a Los Angeles-area hospital. A specific cause of death has not been formally disclosed.

Knowings' aunt, Tyleah Joseph, announced the death Wednesday in a Facebook post, writing that Knowings was "an outstanding actress, comedian" and "twin sister."

A Nickelodeon Sketch Comedy Regular

Knowings joined the cast of "All That" in 1997 after appearing on "And Now This," a Rosie O'Donnell sketch-comedy special produced by Nickelodeon. She remained with the show through the end of its sixth season in 2000, appearing alongside cast members including Kenan Thompson, Kel Mitchell, Nick Cannon and Amanda Bynes.

She was known for a recurring role in the sketch "Whateverrr!!!" opposite Bynes, along with characters including Penny Lane and Lieutenant Fondue. "All That" ran on Nickelodeon from 1994 to 2005 and helped launch the careers of several young performers who went on to broader entertainment careers.

Between 2008 and 2011, Knowings made three appearances on "Sesame Street" alongside her twin brother, actor Chris Knowings, who previously appeared in Spike Lee's 1994 film Crooklyn.

Kenan Thompson posted a tribute to Knowings on Instagram following news of her death, remembering his former "All That" co-star.

Knowings is the second former "All That" cast member to die this year, following the death of Kianna Underwood in a hit-and-run in Brooklyn in January.
