Trump's Gold Phone Still Hasn't Shipped — and the Fine Print Says It Might Never

Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump announced the T1 Phone back in June 2025. It was supposed to ship in August 2025. It didn't. Then it got delayed again. And again. As of May 2026 there is still no official release date and the phone's own terms and conditions include a section literally titled "No Guarantee of Release, Delivery or Timing."

That section is worth reading carefully.

"Trump Mobile does not guarantee that: the Device will be commercially released; regulatory approvals (including FCC authorization) will be obtained; carrier certification will be secured; production will commence or continue; or delivery will occur within any specific timeframe."

So to summarize — the company selling $100 deposits on a phone is telling you in its own fine print that the phone may never exist.

What the T1 Phone Is Supposed to Be

When it was announced the T1 Phone was described as "a sleek, gold smartphone engineered for performance and proudly designed and built in the United States." That last part — built in the USA — quietly disappeared from the website shortly after launch. The current version says the phone was "designed with American values in mind" and "shaped by American innovation." Those are different things.

What the site does still promise is a 6.78-inch touchscreen, a 50 megapixel main camera, quick-charge battery, fingerprint sensor, and an Android operating system. The product illustration shows a gold phone with an American flag on the back above the words "Trump Mobile." The site notes that the illustration is subject to change.

The phone's appearance has already changed at least once from what was originally shown at launch.

The Deposit Situation

Reports suggest around 600,000 people have paid the $100 deposit — which would put Trump Mobile sitting on roughly $60 million in customer money for a product it openly admits may never ship. The deposits are described as fully refundable if customers want out. There's also a catch for people who decide to wait — the $100 deposit doesn't actually lock in the promotional price of $499. The terms say final pricing will be disclosed at the time of purchase and customers can accept or reject it then.

So you might pay $100 to hold your place in line, wait over a year, and then find out the phone costs more than advertised.

Is It Actually Happening?

There's one real piece of news here. In March the T1 phone received PTCRB certification — a technical standard confirming network compatibility in North America. That's a concrete step that suggests something is at least in development and that the phone isn't entirely vapor.

Trump Mobile's wireless plan is already operational, accepting customers on other devices including refurbished Apple and Samsung phones sold through the Trump Mobile site. So the carrier side of the business exists. The phone side remains firmly in "we can't promise anything" territory.

People who want their $100 back can call (888) 878-6745 or contact Trump Mobile customer support directly. Refunds are also automatically issued if the company cancels the product entirely — which, per the terms and conditions, remains a live possibility.
