Detroit Lions cornerback Terrion Arnold turned himself in to authorities Wednesday night and was arrested in connection with a February kidnapping and armed robbery in Tampa, Florida. The 23-year-old faces eight felony charges that carry a potential sentence of life in prison.

The Charges

Arnold is facing four counts of robbery with a firearm or deadly weapon and four counts of kidnapping, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. He is being held at Orient Road Jail in Florida with no bond. A court hearing was scheduled for Thursday at 1:30 p.m. ET, and prosecutors said they will file a pretrial detention motion arguing Arnold should remain in custody until trial.

"Fame doesn't get you out of criminal charges or our pursuit of justice and holding criminals accountable," Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw said.

What Authorities Allege Happened

According to investigators, the incident stems from a theft on Feb. 1 when personal property worth more than $250,000 was reported stolen from Arnold and others at an Airbnb rental in Largo, Florida. Three days later, on Feb. 4, authorities allege Arnold and a co-defendant coordinated a retaliatory scheme against three men they believed were responsible — men investigators say had nothing to do with the original theft.

Prosecutors allege Arnold and a co-defendant directed others to lure the victims to a Tampa apartment, where they were held at gunpoint, beaten and pistol-whipped. According to a statement from the city of Tampa, the attack was livestreamed to Arnold as it happened, and he was giving orders via a group chat while traveling to the apartment from another location.

At least seven people face charges in connection with the incident. Two co-defendants pleaded guilty Wednesday and are cooperating with prosecutors.

"No one has the right to take the law into their own hands. A dispute over missing property does not justify kidnapping, violence or retaliation," Hillsborough County State Attorney Suzy Lopez said.

Arnold Denies All Involvement

Arnold's representation, Denise White of EAG Sports Management, issued a statement flatly denying the allegations.

"Terrion Arnold categorically denies any involvement in the matters underlying the allegations made against him and maintains his innocence," the statement read. "There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations. Instead, the government appears to be relying on testimony from multiple convicted felons who have admitted their own involvement and may have substantial incentives to shift blame in an effort to lessen their sentences."

The statement added that Arnold "looks forward to his day in court and is confident that the judicial process will lead to his ultimate vindication."

The Lions Respond

The Detroit Lions issued a brief statement declining to elaborate on the situation.

"We are aware of the legal situation regarding Terrion Arnold," the team said. "We will not comment at this time out of respect for the ongoing legal process."

Arnold's NFL Career

Arnold was selected by Detroit in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 24th overall, out of the University of Alabama, where he earned All-American honors in 2023. He is a native of Tallahassee, Florida.

In two NFL seasons, Arnold has appeared in 24 games with 22 starts, recording 91 tackles, 10 passes defensed and one interception. His 2025 season was cut short by a concussion and a shoulder injury that ultimately required surgery, limiting him to just eight games.
