Shake Shack is updating its menu to include classics modified for the rise in GLP-1 culture.

Just before 2026, the burger chain announced its Good Fit Menu, which includes six items that put a healthy spin on the classics without the "guesswork." Items are made with up to 52 grams of protein per serving.

According to the company's website, the Single ShackBurger, Chicken Shack, Double SmokeShack, Double Veggie Shack and Double Avocado Bacon Burger will be available in lettuce wraps. Another item is the Gluten-Free Double ShackBurger which comes prepared on gluten-free buns.

What's on the Menu

The new menu, available to order online and at locations nationwide, was curated to provide "easy modifications from Shake Shack's core menu" and made to meet customers' various lifestyles, whether that's "dialing up protein, cutting back, or simply eating with more intention."

Shake Shack's Good Fit options fit into the Cleveland Clinic's suggested diet for GLP-1 users. What to prioritize? Protein and fiber-packed meals without refined carbs. High-fat foods like fried chicken or processed foods can worsen side effects of the medication though.

Why This Matters

GLP-1 medications like Ozempic, Zepbound, Wegovy and Mounjaro have been on the rise as a treatment for weight loss and other health conditions like diabetes. It’s been especially prevalent in the celebrity world, with everyone from Oprah Winfrey to Serena Williams opening up about their use of GLP-1s.

These medications work by mimicking a hormone your body naturally produces called glucagon-like peptide-1. This hormone regulates blood sugar and appetite.

When you take these medications, they slow down how quickly your stomach empties. Food sits in your stomach longer, which signals fullness faster and keeps you feeling full longer. They also affect signals between your gut and brain that control hunger.

Here's where it gets tricky for eating out. These medications change how your body processes food in ways that make certain meals problematic.

High-fat foods sit in your stomach even longer than usual on GLP-1s. Fried chicken, heavy sauces, greasy burgers all digest slowly already. Add GLP-1 medication slowing gastric emptying further and you get nausea, bloating, and discomfort that can last hours.

Refined carbs cause blood sugar spikes that GLP-1s are designed to prevent, but eating them anyway can trigger side effects. White bread, regular buns, fries all work against the medication.

Large portions become nearly impossible to finish. Your stomach signals fullness way earlier than it used to. Eating past that signal brings on nausea, sometimes vomiting.

Why Modified Menus Matter

People on GLP-1s need more protein because the medications reduce overall calorie intake significantly. Without adequate protein, muscle loss becomes a real problem. Protein also helps maintain satiety without triggering the digestive issues that fats cause.

Fiber matters too because GLP-1s can cause constipation as a side effect. High-fiber foods help counteract that.

Smaller portions prevent the nausea and discomfort from eating past fullness signals. Lettuce-wrapped burgers cut out refined carbs while keeping protein intact.

Shake Shack's Good Fit options align with the Cleveland Clinic's suggested diet for GLP-1 users.

Other Chains Jumping In

In recent months, fast food chains including Chipotle and Olive Garden launched menus designed for customers using the category of weight loss medications.

It makes sense from a business standpoint. Millions of Americans are using these medications now. They still want to eat out occasionally, they just need options that won't make them feel terrible after.

The other good news is that you don’t have to be on any GLP-1 medication to benefit from choosing any of these healthier options. It simply boils down to making better food choices while still feeling like you can enjoy the occasional “treats” you know and love.

What It Comes Down To

Shake Shack isn't the first chain adapting to GLP-1 culture and won't be the last. The lettuce-wrapped burgers and high-protein options cater to a growing customer base that's using weight loss medications and needs food that works with them, not against them.

Yes, it’s still fast food. But at least it is modified for people who can't handle the regular versions anymore without side effects. Whether that's sustainable long-term or just a trend remains to be seen, but for now the chains are following the money.
