Teens With Stolen Buffalo Wild Wings Food Arrested After Murder Plot Notebook Found in Car
A routine reckless driving call in Stafford County, Virginia, led deputies to uncover an alleged murder plot against a teenager's parents — after the two suspects were found with stolen food from a Buffalo Wild Wings, multiple knives, and a notebook detailing two separate plans to kill an entire family.
How the Investigation Started
On June 16, the Stafford County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of reckless driving near Austin Ridge Drive after a vehicle veered off the road and struck a speed limit sign. Deputies located the car later that evening at a Wawa convenience store on Garrisonville Road, where they detained two people: Louis Conely, 19, of Stafford, and an unidentified 17-year-old.
A tray of Buffalo Wild Wings food was visible on the dashboard. Both suspects admitted to stealing it. Deputies also found unopened alcoholic beverages in the car, which surveillance footage later confirmed were stolen from the Wawa.
What Deputies Found in the Car
A search of the vehicle turned up more than stolen food and alcohol. Deputies discovered multiple knives, medical items, and a notebook. The notebook, which authorities determined belonged to Conely, contained detailed plans to murder the 17-year-old's family.
According to charging documents, the pair had developed two separate murder plots targeting the minor's parents. The plans included how to approach the home, how to avoid security cameras, where to park, and whether to use a gun or a knife. According to investigators, the 17-year-old insisted that both parents be killed. One proposed plan involved killing only one parent and framing the other.
Authorities also said the two had exchanged text messages as far back as April discussing the murders in detail.
Weapons Found at the Teen's Home
A subsequent search of the 17-year-old's bedroom turned up additional evidence. Deputies found multiple BB guns, edged weapons, and archery equipment — items consistent with the weapons the pair had discussed using in their plans, according to investigators.
No motive was publicly disclosed. It was not immediately clear how Conely and the juvenile knew each other.
Charges Filed
Conely was arrested and charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit murder, two counts of felony threats in writing, petit larceny, unlawful purchase of an alcoholic beverage, drinking while operating a motor vehicle, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, possession of a Schedule IV controlled substance, and hit-and-run reckless driving. He was held at Rappahannock Regional Jail without bond.
The 17-year-old was charged with two counts of conspiracy to commit murder and one count of felony threats in writing, and was held at Rappahannock Regional Juvenile Detention Center.
