A Los Angeles jury took an hour and a half to convict Nick Pasqual on all six counts against him. The deliberation was short. The verdict was not.

Pasqual, best known for a guest appearance on How I Met Your Mother, was found guilty of attempted murder, forcible rape, three felony counts of injuring a domestic partner, and first-degree burglary. The jury also found he used a deadly weapon during a domestic violence incident. He faces a maximum sentence of life in prison. Sentencing is set for June 2.

What He Did

In May 2024 Pasqual broke into the Los Angeles home of makeup artist Allie Shehorn — his estranged girlfriend, who had recently filed a restraining order against him — around 4:30 in the morning. He stabbed her multiple times and sexually assaulted her. Shehorn was taken to the hospital with critical injuries. She underwent multiple surgeries including procedures to repair severed tendons in her right arm and to close wounds to her neck.

She had a restraining order. He broke in at 4:30 in the morning anyway.

After the attack Pasqual fled. He was eventually caught at a US-Mexico border checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas and extradited back to Los Angeles. He pleaded not guilty last March. After a two-week trial the jury came back in ninety minutes.

Who He Was

Pasqual appeared as Ted's student Will in the Season 7 episode of How I Met Your Mother called Field Trip. He had uncredited roles in Zack Snyder's Rebel Moon and the Steve Jobs biopic Jobs, and starred in the 2009 Mischa Barton film Homecoming. Not a major career — but recognizable enough that the name attached to this case means something to people who watched the show.

None of that matters much now. What matters is that Allie Shehorn survived multiple surgeries after being attacked in her own home in the middle of the night by a man she had already taken legal steps to keep away from her.

She had the right paperwork. It didn't protect her. The jury's verdict is the system working the way it's supposed to — just two years after the fact.

June 2 is sentencing day. Life in prison is on the table.
