Mia Goth Files for Divorce From Shia LaBeouf After Nearly 10 Years
Mia Goth has filed for divorce from Shia LaBeouf, nearly 10 years after the actors tied the knot.
The "Pearl" star filed the petition Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences, according to ABC News. The filing lists the couple's date of separation as July 2025.
Custody and Support
Goth is asking for primary legal and physical custody of the couple's 4-year-old daughter, with visitation for LaBeouf. She also asked the court not to award spousal support to either of them.
Representatives for Goth and LaBeouf did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
An On-and-Off Romance
Goth, 32, and LaBeouf, 40, met in 2012 while filming Lars von Trier's "Nymphomaniac: Vol. II." They married in 2016 in Las Vegas, in what was the first marriage for both.
The couple appeared to call it quits in 2018 and said at the time that they were divorcing. But they never finalized a split and remained legally married. They reunited in 2020 and welcomed their daughter in 2022.
The new filing means this is the second time the pair have publicly moved toward divorce. Through the years, the two have largely kept their family life out of the spotlight, rarely discussing their marriage or their daughter in interviews.
A Rough Stretch for LaBeouf
The filing came just one day after LaBeouf settled a lawsuit with singer FKA Twigs for the second time.
FKA Twigs, his former girlfriend, first sued him in 2020, accusing him of emotional and physical abuse during their relationship. The two settled and the case was dismissed in 2025. She sued again in March, arguing that nondisclosure terms in that settlement illegally kept her from speaking out. On Monday, she moved to dismiss the second lawsuit, saying LaBeouf had agreed to void those provisions.
LaBeouf has also faced criminal trouble this year. He was arrested in February after a Mardi Gras brawl outside a New Orleans bar. In June, he pleaded guilty to three counts of simple battery for punching people during the incident.
A judge gave him a six-month suspended sentence and two years of probation, and ordered him to attend an alcohol treatment program and stay away from the victims and the bar, WTOP reported.
His attorney said at the time that LaBeouf "came to court today wanting to take accountability for his part in what happened" and wanted to focus on his family, work and creative projects.
Two Very Different Careers
LaBeouf became famous as a child star on the Disney Channel series "Even Stevens" and went on to lead films including "Holes," "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" and the first three "Transformers" movies. He later wrote the semi-autobiographical 2019 film "Honey Boy," based on his own childhood and his relationship with his father.
Goth, meanwhile, was born in London and worked as a model before making her film debut in "Nymphomaniac," the movie where she met LaBeouf. She has since become one of Hollywood's most acclaimed young horror stars. She earned rave reviews for her work in Ti West's trilogy "X," "Pearl" and "MaXXXine."
She has also been busy with high-profile projects. She appeared in Christopher Nolan's "The Odyssey" this summer and played a dual role in Guillermo del Toro's "Frankenstein" last year.
Neither Goth nor LaBeouf has publicly commented on the divorce filing. Beyond citing irreconcilable differences, the petition offered no public explanation for the split, and no court dates have been announced.
