MorningStar Farms Recalls Popular Frozen Foods Over Possible Plastic Contamination

Frozen foods are supposed to make our lives a little bit easier. But, if you've recently stocked up on MorningStar Farms products, you'll want to take a quick look in your freezer. 

According to a voluntary MorningStar Farms recall, two of its popular frozen products are being pulled after reports of possible plastic pieces in the food. 

The recall affects products sold throughout the United States, as well as Puerto Rico and Costa Rica.

Which Products Are Being Recalled?

The current MorningStar Farms nuggets recall and broader plant-based food recall include the following products:

• MorningStar Farms Buffalo Chik'n Nuggets

  • 10.5-ounce package

  • UPC: 000 28989 10110 5

  • Better If Used Before dates:

    • July 7, 2027

    • July 8, 2027

• MorningStar Farms Hot & Spicy Sausage Patties

  • 8-ounce package

  • UPC: 000 28989 10094 8

  • Better If Used Before dates:

    • July 5, 2027

    • July 6, 2027

    • July 7, 2027

No other MorningStar Farms products are included in the recall.

Why Are They Being Recalled?

This plastic contamination recall was issued because the affected products may contain pieces of plastic. But, the company reacted quickly after receiving customer complaints. 

While no injuries have been reported, swallowing foreign material like plastic could present a choking hazard or cause serious injury if consumed.

What Should You Do If You Have Them?

If you find one of the recalled products in your freezer, don't eat it.

Instead, MorningStar Farms says customers should throw the product away and contact the company's Consumer Affairs team to request a full refund.

Before you toss any packages, it's worth taking a quick look at the UPC code and "Better If Used Before" date to make sure your product is part of the recall.
