LeAnn Rimes Cancels Shows This Week Due to Severe Illness
LeAnn Rimes isn't making it to Washington this week.
The country singer posted on Instagram Stories Wednesday to let fans know she's canceling upcoming shows in Spokane and Seattle — both part of her 30 Years of Blue tour. Reports are now identifying the culprit as gastroenteritis, the stomach bug that had her completely bedridden and unable to travel or perform.
"I am truly heartbroken to have to reschedule," she wrote. "I am so very grateful for your kindness and continued support as I recover."
Tickets stay valid for the rescheduled dates. Refunds are available through the original point of purchase if you can't make the new shows.
A Body That's Been Through a Lot Lately
Gastroenteritis is rough on anyone. For someone who has been managing a long list of health challenges simultaneously, it's the last thing she needed.
In the last few months alone — in January she underwent a $10,000 Therapeutic Plasma Exchange treatment to remove what she described as toxins, mold, and microplastics from her blood. The procedure pulls plasma from the blood, filters out inflammatory proteins and cellular waste, and replaces it with clean albumin. In March she went viral for undergoing a "deep jaw release" treatment to address chronic tension she'd been carrying.
Last summer she walked offstage mid-concert — also in Washington — because her dental bridge fell out while she was singing. She pushed it back in and kept going. It fell out again later in the same show. She spent the rest of the night holding her teeth in place between lyrics, which is either incredibly dedicated or incredibly on-brand for someone who has been performing since she was 13.
The Longer Health Picture
Rimes has been dealing with serious health issues her entire life. She's had severe psoriasis since she was 2 years old — a condition she's been open about managing with various treatments including injections. She's also spoken publicly and candidly about living with anxiety and depression, including the particular weight of having been thrust into fame as a child and what that did to her mental health over the years.
She's 43 now and still out there performing, still trying new treatments, still pushing through when her body is clearly demanding she slow down. Gastroenteritis forced the slowdown this week. Washington will have to wait a little longer.
She says she'll be back on stage soon. Knowing her track record, she probably means it.
