Disney's Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Is Getting a Full Muppet Makeover This May

Disney didn’t just swap out a band. They handed the keys to The Muppets and let things get funky.

The former Aerosmith ride is coming back as a full Disney Muppets roller coaster and, based on the latest details, this is less of a refresh and more of a full personality change.

The Rock n Roller Coaster Muppets Opening Date

Let’s start with what everyone wants to know.

The official opening date is May 26, 2026, at Hollywood Studios. That puts it right at the start of summer, which is definitely intentional. This won’t be a quiet rollout, either. It’ll be loud, fast, and very on-brand.

The Storyline Is as Chaotic as We’d Expect

The Rock n Roller Coaster's new theme will keep the original structure, but will change the tone completely. Instead of rushing to an Aerosmith concert, riders will be thrown into a Muppets-style scramble.

The Electric Mayhem band will be trying to make it to their show on time, only to find out something has gone wrong, and everyone will have to race across Hollywood to get them there on time.

So, you’re still in a limo. It’s just been upgraded by Muppet Labs, which is… probably not reassuring.

The Music Might Be the Biggest Change

This is where things get interesting.

The ride will feature a rotating soundtrack tied to The Electric Mayhem, with multiple songs, instead of a single fixed track. One confirmed track is a cover of Blur’s “Song 2,” performed in full Mayhem style.

Disney has also teased a full lineup of collaborations, meaning the Electric Mayhem Disney ride songs won’t be background noise. They’ll control the entire experience. So, it’s a different ride, a different song, and a different level of chaos each time.

The Ride Itself Isn’t Slowing Down

If you’re wondering whether Disney toned it down, they didn’t. The coaster still launches from 0 to 60 mph in seconds, and is keeping all of its original loops and high-speed elements.

So, it’ll still be intense. Now, it just has a soundtrack that might include a Muppet screaming through it.

The Details Are Getting a Full Muppet Makeover

The entire experience is being reworked. The iconic guitar outside is getting a bold, psychedelic redesign.

The queue will include Muppet-style props and cameos, and the story will lean heavily into Electric Mayhem as the main attraction

Even the fictional record label has changed ownership, now tied to Muppet lore in a way that longtime fans will love.

Why This One Is Different

Disney updates their rides all the time, but this one is a bit different. The original version had a very specific tone, but the new ride is leaning into personality, humor, and unpredictability.

It’s still fast. It’s still loud. It’s just not taking itself seriously anymore. And that’s probably the whole point.

This could go one of two ways. It could feel like a fun, chaotic upgrade that gives the ride a new life. Or, it could feel like a complete tonal flip that longtime fans need a minute to adjust to.

Either way, it’ll still be unforgettable.

A Roller Coaster Made for Repeat Rides

Between the rotating songs, updated visuals, and new storyline, Disney Hollywood Studios' new ride is clearly designed to be ridden more than once.

Not for nostalgia, not for the surprise factor, but simply because, with the Muppets in charge, it’s probably not going to play out the same way twice.
