Zac Brown Surprises 37,000 Fans With Free Cruise Vacations
Zac Brown Band turned a milestone Fenway Park show into the largest audience giveaway in live entertainment history, surprising all 37,000 fans in attendance with a free cruise vacation for two.
The surprise came during the band's sold-out concert Sunday, Aug. 2, marking Zac Brown Band's 15th consecutive sold-out show at the historic Boston ballpark, a record for the venue. Just before performing "Same Boat," frontman Zac Brown addressed the crowd directly. "Tonight we're going to do something that even Jimmy [Buffett] would say is crazy," Brown said. "I'm buying every single person here a cruise for two people on the boat. Every single person here gets a cruise for themselves and a loved one to go on the boat. This is the biggest giveaway in history, ladies and gentlemen, here tonight at Fenway Park!"
According to the band, the total value of the giveaway topped $40 million, paid for personally by Brown. Fans were directed to a number displayed on the stadium's screens to sign up and claim their cruise.
Fans React to the Surprise
The announcement caught the crowd completely off guard. "At the beginning of the show, Zac Brown announced that there was going to be this amazing surprise that was taking place during the concert," said Serina Ryder, who attended the show with her three sons. "But I never thought when he announced that he would be giving away a free cruise to every single person in the audience that we would be getting that kind of gift."
Nathan Whitcomb, who was at the concert with his girlfriend and parents, described his initial disbelief. "I was like, 'is he serious?' I didn't believe it, it didn't seem real," Whitcomb said. "It was unbelievable. Something so generous and it was just amazing."
Where the Cruises Are Sailing
The complimentary trips are aboard Margaritaville at Sea and can be redeemed on select sailings over the next year. According to Boston.com, fans who claim the offer will sail aboard the brand-new Beachcomber, set to debut in January 2027. The ship will feature "Same Boat," a first-of-its-kind, artist-curated live music venue at sea co-designed by Brown, named in tribute to his 2021 collaboration with Jimmy Buffett.
Margaritaville at Sea CEO Christopher Ivy praised the partnership in a statement. "We were honored to work alongside Zac to help bring this incredible surprise to life for his fans," Ivy said. "This was an extraordinary way to thank the fans who have supported him throughout his career, and we're proud to have helped make that incredible vision a once-in-a-lifetime reality."
Part of an Ongoing Tour Partnership
The Fenway giveaway was an outsized version of a promotion Brown has run throughout his current tour. Margaritaville at Sea is the presenting sponsor of Zac Brown Band's 2026 "Love & Fear" Tour, and the band has been giving away four cruises at each stop along the way. Boston marked the exception, with every single audience member receiving the prize instead of just a handful of winners.
The "Love & Fear" Tour kicked off in Boston and continues with stops across the U.S. in the months ahead, with fans at future shows still having a chance to win the smaller, four-cruise giveaway at each stop.
