Walmart Recalls Bettergoods Frozen Pasta Over Listeria Concerns

Another freezer staple has landed on the recall list. Gias Foods, Inc. is recalling two lots of Bettergoods Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine sold at Walmart stores because the frozen pasta could be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.

Fortunately, no illnesses have been reported so far. Still, this Walmart pasta recall is worth checking before you start preparing dinner. 

Which Walmart Frozen Pasta Is Recalled?

This Bettergoods pasta recall doesn't include every bag of Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine. According to the FDA recall notice, the affected pasta comes in a frozen 22-ounce yellow bag.

Here's what to look for:

  • Product: Bettergoods Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine

  • UPC: 194346442706

  • Lot: L6079C or L6080C

  • Expiration Date: September 19, 2027, or September 20, 2027

The lot number and expiration date are stamped on the back of the package.

The pasta was distributed to Walmart stores around the nation, so this isn't a Walmart food recall limited to just a few states.

Why Was the Bettergoods Pasta Recalled?

The issue came to light during routine sampling conducted by the Washington State Department of Agriculture and Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.

Testing indicated that the finished pasta products may contain Listeria monocytogenes. Gias Foods has stopped distributing the affected product while the company and FDA investigate what caused the problem.

Listeria can cause symptoms such as:

  • Fever

  • Headache

  • Stiffness

  • Nausea

  • Abdominal pain

  • Diarrhea

Infections can become more serious for young children, older adults, people with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women.

What Should You Do With the Recalled Pasta?

First, it's worth taking a quick trip to the freezer. If you find a bag that matches one of the recalled lots, Gias Foods says to return it to Walmart for a full refund.

Most importantly, don't eat it.

Check the Package Before the Water Starts Boiling

No illnesses were reported when the Listeria recall was announced, which is certainly welcome news. 

But, with two specific lots potentially affected and bags sold across the country, checking those numbers only takes a minute.

Tonight's fettuccine can wait that long.
