Walmart Pistachio Nut Butter Recalled Over Salmonella in 19 States

BetterGoods Pistachio Nut Butter is being pulled after three jars from one batch tested positive for Salmonella. The contamination turned up during a routine inspection by Florida's Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, and Walmart got the news on July 17. The FDA made it official with an announcement on August 3.
Why This Matters
Salmonella isn't the kind of thing you want to gamble on. It can cause real trouble — especially for young kids, older adults, or anyone with a weakened immune system. Symptoms run the usual gut-punch lineup: cramping, fever, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea that can sometimes turn bloody in worse cases.
How To Know If Yours Is Affected
This isn't a blanket recall on the whole product line — just one specific batch. Check for a 6.7 oz. glass jar, UPC 194346207961, lot code LB028ACP04, with an expiration date of January 28, 2027. All three details need to match. If your jar's lot code is different, you're fine.
Where It Was Sold
The affected batch made it into Walmart stores across 19 states: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, South Dakota, Tennessee, Washington, and Wyoming. That's a pretty wide footprint for one recalled lot. The FDA confirmed no other lots of the pistachio nut butter are involved.
What Walmart And The Manufacturer Are Saying
Walmart says it moved fast once it got word — pulling the product from shelves and blocking it at checkout, both in-store and online. The company's working with its supplier and is telling anyone who has a jar to just stop using it.
Botticelli Foods, the manufacturer, put out its own statement, saying quality and safety sit at the center of what they do and reaffirming their commitment to the standards customers expect from them.
No Illnesses Reported Yet, But Don't Risk It
As of now, there haven't been any confirmed illnesses tied to this recall. Still, the FDA's advice is straightforward: don't eat it. Bring it back to Walmart, and you'll get a full refund.
