Perez Hilton Hospitalized After Concerning Livestream
Celebrity blogger Perez Hilton was hospitalized Tuesday night after police responded to his Miami-area home following reports that he was livestreaming acts of self-harm on TikTok.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office confirmed it received multiple calls about an individual "who was livestreaming acts of self-harm on social media." Deputies located Hilton's residence, spoke with family members on the scene, and confirmed he was alone inside. According to the sheriff's office, Hilton was "safely recovered" and transported by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue to a local hospital, where he was receiving medical attention.
The video, which was streamed on TikTok before the platform removed it, reportedly showed Hilton covered in blood with visible cuts, holding what appeared to be a knife. Multiple viewers commented on the livestream urging him to stop before it was taken down.
The sheriff's office explained its approach to the situation in a statement. "In many incidents involving a person experiencing a mental health crisis or actively harming themselves, deputies prioritize de-escalation by creating time, distance, and opportunities for communication," the office said, noting that the tactic is meant to reduce risk to the individual, deputies and the public.
Representatives Respond
Hilton's representatives at Golden Artists Entertainment issued a statement Tuesday night acknowledging the situation. "We are aware of the concerning content circulating online involving our client," the statement read. "At this time, we have not been able to make direct contact with him, despite our ongoing efforts to reach him. Our primary concern is Perez's health and well being, as well as the well being of his family."
A Difficult Year for Hilton
Hilton, 48, whose real name is Mario Lavandeira, recently relocated from Las Vegas back to his native Miami with his three young children, all under 14, in June, saying at the time that he felt called to make the move. Earlier this year, he shared publicly that he'd endured a serious medical scare, including a lengthy hospital stay tied to sepsis and a subsequent infection, and spoke about the financial strain of hospital bills despite having insurance.
Hilton, who is a single father, built his public profile in the early 2000s through celebrity gossip coverage before expanding into podcasting in recent years.
