NFL Week 3 Scores: Bills, Chiefs Stay Perfect in Sunday Early Games
Week 3's early window delivered three games decided in the final two minutes, two teams snapping long losing streaks and a pair of AFC contenders staying perfect. Here's how all nine 1 p.m. ET games played out on Sunday, Sept. 27.
Bills 24, Chargers 16
The Bills (3-0) committed five turnovers and still found a way to stay unbeaten. Buffalo fell behind 10-0 after James Cook fumbled on the first snap, but Cook bounced back to run for 154 yards on 24 carries. The turning point came late in the fourth quarter, when C.J. Gardner-Johnson intercepted Justin Herbert at the goal line and Josh Allen followed with a 1-yard touchdown run for Buffalo's first lead with 7:35 left. It was the first time the Bills won with five or more turnovers since 1997, according to ESPN. The Chargers fell to 0-3.
Browns 21, Panthers 18
Deshaun Watson hit Harold Fannin Jr. for a 14-yard touchdown with 1:48 remaining, then found Denzel Boston on the two-point conversion to finish off Cleveland's second straight comeback win. Carolina had gone ahead 18-13 on Bryce Young's 8-yard touchdown pass to John Metchie III with 4:25 to go. Watson went just 10 of 21 for 67 yards through three quarters before completing 6 of 9 for 77 yards in the fourth, ESPN reported. The Browns improved to 2-1, while the Panthers dropped to 1-2.
Colts 19, Texans 17
Spencer Shrader played through a groin injury and made four field goals, including a 43-yarder with 16 seconds left that won it. The victory snapped a nine-game losing streak, the longest active skid in the NFL, and gave Indianapolis (1-2) its first win since Nov. 2. The Colts pulled it off despite Daniel Jones fumbling three times. Houston fell to 0-3.
Lions 31, Jets 24
Jahmyr Gibbs scored three touchdowns, the last on an 11-yard catch with 2:25 left, after the Jets erased a 14-point fourth-quarter deficit to tie the game. New York drove to the Detroit 28 in the final minute, but blitzing safety Chuck Clark sacked Geno Smith and forced a fumble that Jack Campbell recovered to seal it, The Detroit News reported. Gibbs finished with 164 scrimmage yards. The Lions moved to 2-1, and the Jets fell to 1-2.
Jaguars 35, Patriots 6
Jacksonville controlled this one from start to finish. The defining moment came with 1:02 left in the first half, when Travis Hunter leaped in the end zone for his first career interception, wiping out a New England scoring chance and preserving a 14-3 lead. Drake Maye finished 14 of 25 for 199 yards with two interceptions and a lost fumble, while Trevor Lawrence threw two touchdown passes.
Chiefs 24, Dolphins 10
Kansas City stayed unbeaten at 3-0 behind an efficient Patrick Mahomes, who completed 20 of 24 passes for 246 yards and two touchdowns. After the Chiefs stopped Miami on fourth down at the Dolphins' 48, Mahomes found Travis Kelce for an 11-yard touchdown with 2:55 left, putting the game out of reach. Miami rookie linebacker Jacob Rodriguez had a bright spot with a diving interception of Mahomes before halftime.
Giants 12, Titans 7
Rain and wind turned MetLife Stadium into a grind, and the Giants won without scoring a touchdown. Dominic Zvada kicked four field goals, and Jevon Holland sealed the win with an end-zone interception of Cam Ward in the final minute. Jameis Winston started at quarterback for New York with Jaxson Dart sidelined by a knee injury. The Giants improved to 2-1, while the Titans fell to 0-3 for the third straight season.
Steelers 30, Bengals 27
Chris Boswell kicked the go-ahead field goal with just over two minutes left, and Pittsburgh's defense closed it out when Derrick Harmon strip-sacked Joe Burrow in the final minute, with the Steelers recovering. Aaron Rodgers threw for 292 yards and three touchdowns. Burrow also threw three, including a 28-yard touchdown that Tee Higgins caught while falling backward, the Bengals noted. It was Cincinnati's first loss of the season, dropping the Bengals to 2-1.
Commanders 33, Seahawks 31
Washington picked up its first win of the season by forcing three turnovers and turning them into 21 points. The tone-setter came in the first quarter, when rookie Sonny Styles stripped running back Jadarian Price and Tim Settle recovered, Washington's first takeaway of the year. Rachaad White caught a touchdown pass on the ensuing drive. Marcus Mariota, starting for the injured Jayden Daniels, threw a season-high three touchdown passes as the Commanders improved to 1-2.
