McDonald's Is Rolling Out Two New Honey Brown Butter Biscuit Sandwiches

McDonald's is giving biscuit lovers something new to look forward to. The chain has introduced two limited-time McDonald's new menu items, both built around a new honey brown butter spread. 

The sandwiches have already started appearing in the McDonald's app ahead of an expected nationwide rollout on July 21st.

The new items will have the same Honey Brown Butter Biscuit and sweet, buttery spread. Here's what we can expect:

• Honey Brown Butter Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit: Folded egg, Applewood smoked bacon, American cheese, and honey brown butter served on a warm biscuit

• Honey Brown Butter Chicken Biscuit: A crispy chicken filet topped with honey brown butter on the same biscuit

Early listings in the McDonald's app show both sandwiches starting at around $5.19, although prices may vary by location.

What's Different About the Honey Brown Butter?

The new spread is the star of the launch. Brown butter is made by gently cooking butter until the milk solids caramelize, creating a deeper, toasted flavor.

McDonald's is pairing that richness with honey to create a sauce that's slightly sweet, instead of spicy. It's a different direction from the hot honey trend that's dominated fast-food menus over the past few years. 

Rather than bringing the heat, these sandwiches will focus on a buttery, comforting flavor that works well with bacon and chicken.

Part of a Busy Summer Menu

The biscuit sandwiches aren't arriving alone. McDonald's is also launching a new Caesar Sauce for its chicken lineup on July 21st, including the Caesar Snack Wrap and Bacon Caesar McCrispy. 

Together, the releases suggest the company is focusing on new sauces and flavor combinations, instead of introducing entirely new sandwich concepts.
