Dolly Parton Quietly Planned Decades of Upcoming Projects
Dolly Parton spent her final years quietly building a plan to keep new music, products and projects arriving for decades after she was gone, according to her longtime manager, who says the country icon left behind a detailed roadmap for her team to follow.
Parton died on August 25, 2026, at age 80. At the time of her death, she reportedly had 10 separate projects in various stages of development, spanning music, film, television, theater and consumer goods, meaning fans can expect new Dolly Parton releases well into the coming decade.
A Plan Years in the Making
Danny Nozell, Parton's longtime manager, revealed the scope of her planning in a statement. "Dolly worked up until the day she died," Nozell says. "She loved seeing her dreams come to life, and loved knowing her work brought people joy."
He described a deliberate, years-long process behind the scenes. "Ever the planner, Dolly worked with the team that she handpicked, for the past several years to build a project roadmap that will guide us for decades to come," he explained.
From Broadway to a Coffee Line
Several projects already have release dates attached. "DOLLY: A True Original Musical" begins Broadway previews on December 7, 2026, with an official opening set for January 19, 2027.
Parton's SongTeller Hotel starts welcoming guests on September 14, with a grand opening set for September 29 alongside the debut of her Life of Many Colors Museum. Her "Cup of Ambition" coffee line launches online that same day, ahead of a retail rollout in spring 2027.
Other consumer projects are staggered through 2027, including a Dolly Dolls line launching online September 15, a "Dolly on the Holly" holiday collection this season, a Kendra Scott collaboration called "The 9 to 5 Collection" arriving in January 2027, dog treats in early 2027, and a bedding and home decor line planned for the third quarter of 2027.
More Still in Development
Beyond the projects with confirmed dates, Parton's team says additional unreleased music, a documentary about the Broadway musical, a biopic, a docuseries, a scripted series, an animated series centered on Billy the Kid, and an avatar-based show are all in various stages of production.
Taken together, the lineup covers nearly every corner of the entertainment business Parton built her career in, from the recording studio and the stage to streaming platforms and retail shelves. Few artists leave behind a production calendar this detailed, let alone one mapped out years in advance with their direct involvement.
Ensuring It's Still Her
Nozell said the team's role now is to see through the plans Parton didn't get to finish herself. "As the leader of the team responsible for overseeing her legacy, we will ensure the many dreams she had yet to fulfill are brought to life," Nozell added.
He also sought to reassure fans that future releases would still carry Parton's personal touch. "If you see unreleased music, products, books, experiences, and campaigns launched through official Dolly Parton channels, you can have confidence in knowing that she placed her personal stamp on it," he said.
That reassurance is likely to matter to a fan base that has followed Parton for more than six decades, across dozens of albums, film and television roles, and the Dollywood theme park she built in her native Tennessee. The roadmap effectively promises that relationship won't end with her death, even as the projects arrive without her actively working on them.
Parton's family has separately shared how she wanted to be remembered following her death, and the newly detailed roadmap suggests her influence on new releases will continue well beyond it.
