Celeste Pizza Discontinued After More Than 60 Years
If you grew up in the '80s or '90s, there's a good chance your Mom made you a Celeste pizza from time to time. They were inexpensive, easy to make, and just the right size. And who could forget Mama Celeste smiling at us from the box?
Unfortunately, we have some sad news for anyone who grew up loving those personal-sized pies. Celeste pizza is discontinued, and the familiar frozen favorite is disappearing from grocery store freezers.
Why Is Celeste Pizza Being Discontinued?
After more than six decades, Conagra Brands has stopped producing Celeste pizzas. The company confirmed the decision during its September 30, 2026, earnings presentation, explaining that it was simplifying its product lineup and concentrating on brands with stronger growth potential.
In his earnings remarks, CEO John Brase explained that the company was making changes to focus on its future growth, and Celeste didn't make the cut. Essentially, those little pizzas weren't bringing in enough money to justify keeping them around.
It's an understandable business decision, perhaps, but that doesn't make it any less disappointing for those of us who remember growing up with them.
Remembering Mama Celeste
Long before Celeste frozen pizza became a supermarket staple, there was a real woman behind the name. Celeste Lizio was an Italian immigrant who opened a Chicago restaurant with her husband, Anthony, in 1937. The family eventually began producing frozen pizzas for local restaurants in 1962.
Quaker Oats purchased the business in 1969, helping introduce the pizzas to households across America. And Mama Celeste became the friendly face of the brand, appearing on the packaging and in all the commercials.
For generations, Mama Celeste pizza was an affordable freezer favorite. The individual pies were so memorable. You didn't have to share, and you didn't need to order delivery to satisfy a pizza craving. Sometimes, the simplest foods leave us with the fondest memories.
Can You Still Buy Celeste Pizza?
If you're wondering where to buy Celeste pizza, there's a little good news. Although production has ended, stores can continue selling whatever inventory they have left. Existing supplies will be available until they're sold out. That means you might still spot a familiar box or two during your next grocery run.
There's no announced date for when the final pizzas will disappear, and availability will depend on individual stores. But, once those remaining supplies are gone, Conagra doesn't currently plan to make any more.
One Last Slice of Childhood Nostalgia
There's something particularly sad about losing a food we remember from childhood. Maybe Celeste wasn't the fanciest pizza in the freezer aisle, but that was never really the point. It was familiar, affordable, and always there when we wanted a quick bite.
And for anyone who remembers those little pies from years ago, it's hard not to feel a little sentimental. So, if you happen to find one last Celeste pizza in your grocery store, perhaps it's worth bringing home. We don't often get the chance to say goodbye to an old childhood favorite with one final slice.
