2026 Winter Olympics Medal Count Update: Team USA in Third Place

Several Olympic medals have already been awarded at the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics, and Team USA continues to build momentum as competition unfolds across northern Italy.

As of Thursday, February 12, the United States has won 14 total medals, placing the country third overall on the medal count tracker. Four of those medals are gold.

The Games continue for the next two weeks, with dozens of medal events still to be decided.

Team USA’s Gold Medal Highlights

Team USA first reached the podium Sunday, February 9, earning two gold medals.

Breezy Johnson captured gold in the Alpine skiing women’s downhill, delivering a signature performance that put the Americans on the board early in the Games.

Later that day, the U.S. figure skating team defended its Olympic title in the team event. Ilia Malinin, known as the “Quad God,” delivered a headline-making performance during the men’s free skate portion, landing a backflip on one leg to help secure the gold medal. The Americans previously won the event at the 2022 Winter Games.

Freestyle skier Elizabeth Lemley added another gold medal in the women’s moguls event, strengthening Team USA’s position in the standings.

As of Thursday morning, Norway has taken the lead with 7 gold medals and 14 overall. The United States currently has 4 gold medals, 7 silver and 3 gold for 14 overall, while several nations remain tightly grouped as competition continues.
