USDA Recalls 32,000 Pounds of Meat Nationwide
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has issued a nationwide recall for more than 32,000 pounds of meat produced by Sabrositos Hondurenos, LLC, after discovering the products carried false USDA inspection labels. The recall, announced on Wednesday, August 20, warns that the meat was not inspected by federal authorities and could pose health risks to consumers.
According to the USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), the recalled products were marked with the establishment number “Est. 1785,” which does not exist. Without proper inspection, the meat may contain undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria, or other contaminants that make it unsafe to eat.
Products Included in the Recall
The affected items were shipped to retailers and restaurants nationwide before August 20, 2025. They include several varieties of chorizo, pork chops, and ribs, all sold in 14-ounce vacuum-sealed packages under the Olancho brand name with “SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS” labeling.
The recalled products are:
Homestyle chorizo labeled “OLANCHO Chorizo Suelto Olanchano SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS”
Smoked pork chops labeled “OLANCHO Chuleta Ahumada Olanchana SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS”
Smoked chorizo labeled “OLANCHO Chorizo Ahumado Olanchano SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS”
Cased homestyle chorizo labeled “OLANCHO Chorizo Olanchano Criollo SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS”
Smoked BBQ spicy chorizo labeled “OLANCHO Chorizo Parrillero SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS”
Smoked ribs labeled “OLANCHO Costilla Ahumada Olanchana SABROCITOS HONDUREÑOS”
What Consumers Should Do
The FSIS urges consumers to check their refrigerators and freezers for these products. Anyone who purchased the recalled meat should not consume it. Instead, they should throw it away or return it to the store where it was bought. Restaurants and retailers are also instructed to stop serving the meat and dispose of any remaining stock.
For additional guidance, consumers can contact Sabrositos Hondurenos, LLC owner Diego Funez Garrido at 908-274-4206. The USDA’s Meat and Poultry Hotline is also available for questions at 888-674-6854 or by email at MPHotline@usda.gov.
A Serious Warning
Food recalls involving false USDA inspection labels are rare but taken seriously, as they undermine public trust in food safety oversight. The FSIS stressed that eating improperly inspected meat carries potential health risks. With the recall covering thousands of pounds of product distributed nationwide, officials are urging consumers to act quickly to protect themselves and their families.
