If you missed your chance to try a CosMc’s drink last year, you’re in luck. McDonald’s is giving its creative beverage menu another shot.

Starting September 2, 2025, the fast food giant will begin testing a lineup of colorful, quirky drinks from its now-closed spinoff brand, CosMc’s, at about 500 locations across the U.S.

This expanded market test is McDonald’s latest move to liven up its beverage menu and tap into the popularity of customizable, cafe-style drinks. Whether you’re a cold brew lover or a fan of fruity refreshers, CosMc’s drinks might just be your new favorite order.

McDonald’s Is Testing New CosMc’s Drinks Across More Locations. Here’s What’s On the Menu

McDonald’s hasn’t revealed every item yet, but five drinks have been confirmed as part of the test:

  • Creamy Vanilla Cold Brew: a smooth, milky take on a coffeehouse staple

  • Toasted Vanilla Frappe: a sweet and icy twist on your usual blended coffee

  • Sprite Lunar Splash: your childhood favorite with a cosmic makeover

  • Popping Tropic Refresher: likely to include popping boba or tropical flavors, or both

  • Strawberry Watermelon Refresher: a bright, summery sip with a fruit-forward flavor

The full CosMc’s menu test will include around 10 drinks in total, highlighting the kind of creativity that initially made the spinoff concept so buzzworthy.

Where Can You Try Them?

CosMc’s test locations include some select restaurants in Wisconsin, Colorado, and other nearby regions. McDonald’s hasn’t given us an exact list yet, but, if you’re in those areas, keep an eye on your local stores starting early September.

This limited run is part of McDonald’s 2025 strategy to explore new offerings without reinventing its core menu. With more than 14,000 McDonald’s locations in the U.S., it’s safe to say this is a regional rollout with potential for wider adoption, depending on how it’s received.

Why Is McDonald’s Bringing Back CosMc’s Drinks?

CosMc’s debuted in 2023 as a nostalgic yet futuristic experiment, named after a McDonaldland alien character from old commercials. The original five CosMc stores had bold beverages, plenty of snacks, and a unique sci-fi-inspired design. But, in early 2025, McDonald’s announced it would close all five locations while keeping the drink ideas alive.

Rather than letting those creations disappear, McDonald’s is weaving them back into its main restaurants in a more efficient way. If the drinks perform well, they could find a permanent home on the McDonald’s beverage menu nationwide.

Is This the Start of Something Bigger?

This test could be McDonald’s way of gauging demand for trendier beverages without launching another full-scale chain.

With coffee culture booming and TikTok-friendly drinks everywhere, McDonald’s may be looking to compete with chains like Dunkin’ and Starbucks by offering more adventurous options.

If you spot a CosMc’s drink on the McDonald’s menu this fall, you might want to give it a try. You’ll be part of a small but caffeinated group of people helping to decide the future of McDonald’s drinks.
