Check your latest pet food delivery. Three hundred cases of dog food got recalled after being contaminated with plastic pieces.

Fromm Family Foods initiated a voluntary recall of some Bonnihill Farms cooked frozen dog food on December 3 after receiving owner complaints. No reports of injury or illness as of December 3, according to an FDA notice, but the company warned pet owners to watch for symptoms of plastic ingestion.

Dogs who ate plastic may show vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy, or stomach discomfort, the notice said. If a dog consumes large amounts of plastic, it can cause intestinal obstruction or blockage, which can be life-threatening.

If your dog displays signs of gastrointestinal upset like vomiting or diarrhea, contact your vet immediately.

"We have identified the error, and in addition to our existing safety process, we have put corrective actions in place to prevent this from happening again," Fromm said in its recall notice shared with the FDA.

The Plastic Problem

Plastic contamination in pet food is serious. Dogs can't tell you they ate something wrong until symptoms start. By then, damage might already be done.

Small amounts of plastic might pass through. Large amounts can cause blockages requiring surgery. Life-threatening stuff.

Fromm says they identified the error and put corrective actions in place. But 300 cases of contaminated food already shipped to 14 states before they caught it.

That's a lot of dogs potentially eating plastic pieces mixed in with their beef recipe.

Watch Your Dog

If you fed your dog this food before seeing the recall, watch for symptoms. Vomiting, loss of appetite, lethargy, stomach discomfort. Anything unusual.

Don't wait to see if symptoms pass. Intestinal blockages get worse fast. Call your vet if anything seems off.

Better to be cautious and wrong than wait too long and deal with emergency surgery.

Check Your Freezer

This is frozen dog food sold in 16 oz containers. If you bought it recently, it's probably still in your freezer.

Check the best-by date: 12/25/2026 B01. Check the UPC code: 072705135004. If both match, it's recalled.

Don't feed it to your dog. Fromm will replace it or refund your money. Not worth risking your dog's health over one container of dog food. There's no reports of illness or injury yet, but that doesn't mean it won't happen. Plastic in dog food is serious. Don't mess around with it.
