Amazon is giving away free groceries for a year to 100 lucky winners ahead of Prime Day — and you don't need a Prime membership or even have to buy anything to enter.

The sweepstakes runs through June 22. Each of the 100 winners receives $10,000 in Amazon gift cards — which works out to roughly $833 a month for groceries and household essentials. The gift cards can be used through Same-Day Delivery, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, and select local marketplace retailers.

How to Enter

The easiest way in is to spend $15 or more on a qualifying grocery order through Amazon — that automatically enters you for that day. Qualifying purchases include orders through Same-Day Delivery, Amazon Fresh, Whole Foods Market, Amazon Now, or participating local retailers on the Amazon marketplace.

If you'd rather not spend anything to enter, you can log into your Amazon account and use the "Click to Enroll for Free" button on the official offer page, or sign up for Amazon grocery text alerts. No Prime membership required — just a standard Amazon account.

One entry per day is the cap regardless of how many orders you place. But entries roll over weekly across the sweepstakes' three separate drawing periods, so entering daily from now through June 22 maximizes your chances. If you're not selected in the first drawing week your entry automatically carries into the next.

Winners are being announced weekly leading up to the June 22 close date.

The Prime Day Connection

This sweepstakes is Amazon's lead-up to Prime Day 2026, which runs from Tuesday June 23 through Friday June 26 — a four-day event this year. The grocery giveaway is designed to get people exploring Amazon's grocery options before the big sale kicks off.

Amazon is also running some summer food deals alongside the sweepstakes — red cherries for $1, hot dogs and buns for $1, sweet corn at 4 for $1, and BBQ favorites starting at $3. Not bad for stacking grocery orders toward daily entries.

Prime Day Itself Requires a Membership

Worth clarifying since it comes up every year — the sweepstakes is open to anyone with an Amazon account, but Prime Day deals are exclusively for Prime members. If you're not currently a member Amazon offers free trials ahead of the event, plus discounted options for specific groups.

People between 18 and 24 can sign up for a discounted Prime membership with a six-month free trial followed by $7.49 a month. If you receive SNAP, EBT, Medicaid, or other qualifying government assistance, Prime Access offers a reduced membership rate.

Is $10,000 Actually a Year of Groceries

For a lot of families, honestly yes — or close to it. USDA data consistently shows the average American household spends between $5,000 and $12,000 annually on food depending on household size and eating habits. A single person or couple would likely have money left over. A larger family might find $833 a month covers most but not all of their grocery bill.

Either way — free is free. The entry window closes June 22. If you're already ordering groceries through Amazon you're essentially getting entered automatically.
