Maria Bartiromo is no longer with Fox News. The longtime anchor's departure from the network and its sister channel, Fox Business, became effective immediately on Thursday, ending a run that spanned more than 12 years.
Fox News Media confirmed the exit in a brief statement, offering no explanation for why Bartiromo's tenure ended when it did. "Effective today, Maria Bartiromo is no longer with FOX News Media," the network said in a statement. "We thank Maria for her work over the last 12 and a half years and wish her all the best on her next chapter."
A Sudden End to a 12-Year Run
Bartiromo joined Fox from CNBC, where she had spent two decades and hosted programs including "Closing Bell" and "On the Money." At Fox, she built her platform around business and political coverage, first anchoring "Opening Bell with Maria Bartiromo" before the show evolved into "Mornings with Maria," a weekday morning program mixing market news with Washington politics. She also hosted the Sunday program "Sunday Morning Futures," which leaned heavily into interviews with conservative politicians and administration officials.
Her Fox tenure followed a career built largely on financial television firsts. Bartiromo made history in 1995 as the first journalist to report live and daily from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange, a format that helped define the modern business-news broadcast and became closely associated with her name for the following three decades.

"Mornings with Maria" is being retitled "Mornings with FOX Business" and will run with a rotation of anchors going forward, while "Maria Bartiromo's Wall Street" is being rebranded as a Fox Business Network program initially fronted by Cheryl Casone. "Sunday Morning Futures" will be hosted by former Republican Congressman Jason Chaffetz this weekend, with the network saying a permanent host will be named later. The rebranded lineup is set to be fully in place by Friday, September 6, according to early network reporting on the changes.
Speculation Swirls Around Her Next Move
Bartiromo's exit landed amid speculation about whether she could be headed for a role in the Trump administration, particularly since the White House has been without a permanent press secretary since Karoline Leavitt's departure last month. But one media reporter pushed back on that theory directly. Vanity Fair's Aidan McLaughlin reported that Bartiromo did not leave Fox for a position in Trump's White House, despite the timing, according to multiple outlets tracking the story.
Trump has previously spoken favorably of Bartiromo and appointed her to the board of the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts earlier this year, a connection that has fueled chatter about her post-Fox plans even without confirmation of what comes next. Her representatives at Creative Artists Agency Speakers did not immediately respond to requests for comment on her future plans.
