Lent is a time for reflection, sacrifice, and – let’s be honest – some seriously good seafood! Whether you're looking for a delicious fish fry, a plate of buttery shrimp, or a hearty seafood stew, many restaurants are offering mouthwatering specials to help you observe Lent 2025 in the tastiest way possible.

It's Officially Lent 2025

Before diving into the best seafood specials, let’s take a quick look at the Lent 2025 dates. The season begins on Ash Wednesday, March 5, 2025, and lasts for 40 days, leading up to Easter Sunday on April 20, 2025. If you're wondering, “When does Lent end?” it officially concludes on Holy Saturday: April 19, 2025.

One of the most well-known Lent fasting rules is that Catholics abstain from eating meat on Ash Wednesday and all Fridays during Lent. But what does that mean exactly? Red meats like beef, pork, and poultry are off-limits – but fish and other seafood are totally fine.

In case you're wondering, “Can you eat chicken during Lent?” the answer is no, at least not on designated meat-free days. This is why seafood specials are so popular during this time.

What to Give Up for Lent

Each year, many people struggle with the decision of what to give up for Lent. While some choose sweets, social media, or coffee, others prefer to focus on making positive changes – like trying healthier foods or eating out less.

If giving up meat on Fridays sounds like a challenge, why not embrace it by treating yourself to some savory seafood instead? It’s time to get to the good part – where to find the best seafood deals during Lent 2025.

Top Restaurants Offering Lent 2025 Seafood Specials

Many restaurants recognize that Lent is a big deal for seafood lovers, and they go all out with special menus. Here are some of the best places to enjoy amazing seafood dishes without breaking the bank.

Red Lobster is a go-to spot for seafood lovers all year round but, during Lent, they take it up a notch. This year, they’re running their Lobsterfest from February 11th - Sunday, April 20th.

We can expect deals on some of our favorites like lobster mac & cheese, as well as some new items like lobster and shrimp linguini and lobster pappardelle pasta.

Long John Silver’s

Long John Silver’s is another great place to grab some crispy fish and shrimp without spending a fortune. Throughout Lent, we can enjoy $6 shrimp baskets and $10 shrimp sea-share entrees. When you’re there, don’t forget their hush puppies and coleslaw; they’re the perfect sides that always complete our meals.

McDonald’s

No Lent seafood list is complete without a shout-out to the Filet-O-Fish from McDonald’s. This simple yet delicious sandwich has been a staple for decades. Many McDonald’s locations offer special pricing on the Filet-O-Fish on Fridays during Lent, making it a budget-friendly option for those of us on the go.

Popeye’s Louisiana Kitchen

On March 3rd, Popeye’s brought back two limited-time specials for Lent: the shrimp tacklebox and the flounder fish sandwich. For only $5.99, the shrimp tacklebox comes with eight breaded butterfly shrimp with a side dish and a biscuit. The flounder fish sandwich is also a delight, especially with its warm brioche bun.

Taco John’s

Taco John’s is running a special on their Alaskan flounder fish tacos all the way through May. These are crispy battered filets topped with lettuce and pico de gallo sauce on a warm tortilla. Sounds great, right? It gets even better because these little delights are less than $4 when you order them a la carte.

The shrimp scampi rings in at a mere $12.49, making it a nice option when you’re looking for something delicious and affordable.

Omaha Steaks

If you like to order high-quality steaks from Omana throughout the year, you can still support them – even during Lent. Throughout this time of year, they’re offering discounts on quite a few menu items, including their wild Argentinian red shrimp, bourbon-glazed salmon filets, and wild Alaskan salmon.
