Florida Man Arrested After 'House of Horrors' Discovery
A Florida man is facing more than 100 criminal charges after an investigation into AI-generated child sexual abuse material led authorities to his home in a gated Sanford community located near an elementary school. Blake McKinniss, 37, was arrested following the execution of a search warrant that prosecutors described as one of the most disturbing scenes of their careers.
How the Investigation Began
The case against McKinniss began on January 27 when the Florida Department of Law Enforcement received more than 70 cyber tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The tips indicated that a user had been uploading, viewing, and storing child sexual abuse material, including AI-generated images depicting the abuse of children.
Investigators traced the activity to McKinniss' IP address and obtained a search warrant. On March 9, FDLE agents executed that warrant at his Sanford residence.
What Investigators Found
Prosecutors and law enforcement described the interior of McKinniss' home as deeply disturbing. Multiple bedrooms had been decorated as children's rooms, despite McKinniss having no children.
Senior Assistant Statewide Prosecutor Lauryn Day described the scene at a March 17 press conference. One room featured pink princess castles and hearts painted on the walls, filled with girls' plastic shoes, toys, stuffed animals, and bedding. Another appeared dedicated to a young boy, decorated with cartoon sports imagery. The master bedroom had been outfitted with pink walls, princess wands, tiaras, unicorn stuffed animals, and posters — alongside sexual paraphernalia.
"This room belonged to a middle-aged, single, childless man," Day said. "There was nothing innocent about this room."
Investigators also recovered an anatomically correct child-like sex doll — possession of which is banned in Florida — along with children's underwear and numerous electronic devices containing CSAM files. One AI-generated interactive character found on his devices was named "Emily" and was described by FDLE Special Agent Felipe Williams as resembling a 6-year-old child.
The Charges
McKinniss was charged with 53 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material, 46 counts of possession of AI-generated CSAM, and one count of possessing a child-like sex doll. He is currently held in Seminole County Jail on $350,000 bond.
If convicted on all counts consecutively, McKinniss faces a maximum sentence of 1,026 years in prison. Prosecutors noted the bottom of the sentencing guidelines alone amounts to more than 1,137 months in the Florida Department of Corrections.
Officials React
Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier addressed the case directly. "Law enforcement and prosecutors walked into a house of horrors upon executing this search warrant," he said. "This guy could spend the rest of his life in prison, and I'm grateful our team worked to ensure he never has access to our kids."
Day called it one of the most disturbing scenes of her career. "What law enforcement saw when they arrived left them speechless," Uthmeier added at the press conference.
