Police in Southern California have recovered 14 boxes of stolen Labubu collectible dolls valued at roughly $30,000 after a warehouse theft that stretched over several days.

According to a statement released Monday by the Chino Police Department, thieves repeatedly targeted a warehouse, making multiple trips to take boxes of the furry, gremlin-like toys. Officials have not confirmed when the theft occurred or who owns the warehouse.

Labubu dolls, part of the “blind box” collectibles sold by Chinese retailer Pop Mart, have developed a devoted global fan base this year. Their distinctive creepy-cute faces, sharp teeth, and shaggy fur, along with celebrity endorsements from Rihanna and Blackpink’s Lisa, have fueled a buying frenzy. Each “blind box” sells for $27.99, while rare or exclusive editions can fetch hundreds of dollars on resale platforms like eBay.

Search Warrant Leads to Recovery

As part of the investigation, police executed a search warrant at a home in Upland, located in San Bernardino County. Officers said one suspect tried to run from the property but surrendered without incident.

Inside, officers found all 14 stolen boxes of Labubus, along with evidence suggesting the dolls were being prepared for resale and shipment to buyers across the country. The recovered collectibles have since been returned to their rightful owners.

“During the investigation, a search warrant was served at a residence in Upland,” Chino police said. “One suspect attempted to flee but ultimately surrendered without incident.”

Not the First Labubu Theft

The Chino case is not the only major Labubu theft in California. Just last week, burglars targeted One Stop Sales, a store in Los Angeles, stealing an estimated $7,000 worth of the plush figures. Surveillance video released by the store showed masked men breaking in, shattering glass, and hauling away boxes of merchandise.

The two incidents highlight just how valuable Labubu dolls have become for thieves looking to profit off high resale prices. With limited stock and strong demand, collectors often pay well above retail to get their hands on rare designs.

The Labubu Phenomenon

Produced exclusively by Pop Mart, Labubu dolls are sold in mystery packaging, meaning buyers don’t know which character they will get until they open the box. This “blind box” model, combined with scarcity and influencer exposure, has made the toys a cultural and collectible sensation.

Chino police have not released the names of the suspects in the warehouse theft. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not said whether the Upland recovery is connected to the Los Angeles-area burglary.
