If you use a preworkout supplement to give yourself an extra boost at the gym, it's worth checking the container before your next workout.

A Texas company has issued a nationwide recall of three flavors of RAPTURE Preworkout after federal testing uncovered a potentially dangerous stimulant in the powder. The substance, known as DMAA, can raise blood pressure and cause serious heart problems, including heart attacks.

The RAPTURE preworkout recall was announced on October 6, 2026, and the FDA published the notice the following day. Here's what to look for and what to do if you have one of the affected products.

Why Is RAPTURE Preworkout Being Recalled?

Leader Formulas, LLC is recalling one lot of its RAPTURE Preworkout dietary supplement powder. According to the FDA recall notice, agency testing detected 1,3-dimethylamylamine, commonly called DMAA. The stimulant isn’t permitted in any dietary supplements sold in the United States.

Although preworkout products are marketed to help us power through exercise, DMAA has risks that go well beyond an ordinary energy boost. The FDA warns that it can increase blood pressure and potentially cause:

  • Heart attacks

  • Shortness of breath

  • Tightness in the chest

The company says it hasn't received any reports of adverse reactions connected to the recall.

Which Preworkout Powders Are Affected?

The preworkout powder recall involves three RAPTURE flavors sold in stores and through the company's website between January 29, 2025, and May 25, 2026.

All three products come in 450-gram round plastic containers with red and black lettering and a rhinoceros seal on the lid.

Check for the following products:

  • RAPTURE Preworkout Rainbow Twist: UPC 710154236506

  • RAPTURE Preworkout Electric Lemonade: UPC 710143 236513

  • RAPTURE Preworkout Berry Mojito: UPC 710154236544

All affected containers have lot number 260327-4.

If you have one of these flavors at home, check the lot number before using it again.

What Makes DMAA So Dangerous?

Finding DMAA in supplements is particularly concerning because of the way the substance affects the cardiovascular system. DMAA is a synthetic stimulant with similar effects to amphetamines.  It’s appeared in products promoted for energy and athletic performance, despite FDA warnings about its safety.

The substance can narrow blood vessels and raise blood pressure, putting too much strain on the heart. And, while someone might take a preworkout powder expecting a little extra energy, the possible consequences of DMAA exposure are far more serious. The FDA advises people not to purchase or use dietary supplements containing DMAA.

What Should You Do With the Recalled RAPTURE Powder?

If you have one of the recalled workout supplements, stop using it immediately. Leader Formulas is asking customers to return the affected containers for a full refund. Anyone with questions can contact the company at:

If you've experienced symptoms or other health problems that might be connected to the supplement, contact your doctor right away. Chest pain or severe breathing difficulties require emergency medical attention. You can also report suspected adverse reactions through the FDA's MedWatch program.

Check Your Supplement Before Your Next Workout

This FDA supplement recall is a reminder that products sold for fitness and performance aren't necessarily free from dangerous ingredients.

If RAPTURE Preworkout is part of your routine, take a moment to check the flavor and lot number against the recall information.

Even if you've used the powder before without noticing any problems, the FDA's findings are reason enough to stop using the affected product. Workout should be good for our hearts, not put them at risk.
