Foster Farms Recalls Chicken Corn Dogs For Wood In Batter

Foster Poultry Farms is pulling almost 4 million pounds of its chicken corn dogs off store shelves after customers reported finding pieces of wood in the batter — and at least five people were hurt, federal officials said.

The Livingston, California-based company announced the recall over the weekend after a series of complaints reached the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS). The agency said the company received “numerous” reports of wood in the product, some of which involved minor injuries.

Which Products Are Affected?

The recall covers about 3.8 million pounds of frozen corn dogs made between July 30, 2024, and Aug. 4, 2025. The products were sold nationwide under several brand names, including Chicken Corn Dogs Batter Wrapped Chicken Frankfurters on a Stick and Corn Dogs Chicken Franks Dipped in Honey Batter.

Each recalled item has the establishment number “P-6137B” inside the USDA inspection mark or printed elsewhere on the packaging.

No serious injuries have been reported, but FSIS officials say they’re worried that some people may still have the corn dogs sitting in their freezers. Because the products are frozen and have a long shelf life, the agency urged consumers to check their packaging carefully.

What You Should Do

Anyone who has the recalled corn dogs should throw them away or return them to the store where they were purchased. The full list of affected labels and product codes is posted on the FSIS recall website.

This recall is among the largest poultry recalls this year. It comes as the USDA continues to track a string of food contamination incidents involving bits of plastic, metal and other foreign materials in processed foods.

Foster Farms said it’s cooperating with federal regulators and working to remove all affected products from stores and warehouses.

“We take food safety seriously and are acting out of an abundance of caution,” the company said in a statement.
