Chocolate and Cheese Recalled Over Health Risks
Heads up, dairy lovers. There was a chocolate recall in June 2025, as well as a major cheese recall in June 2025 that you’ll want to know about.
Cargill and Raw Farm have both issued recalls over contamination concerns involving Salmonella and E. coli.
Whether you're stocking up for a weekend picnic or just grabbing your usual staples, now’s a good time to take a second look at your fridge and snack drawer.
Chocolate and Cheese Recalled Over Health Risks
Cargill is recalling a batch of its Wilbur Chocolate products after testing revealed potential Salmonella contamination. The recall applies to specific chocolate items distributed to commercial and retail customers nationwide.
Salmonella can cause serious illness, especially in young kids, older adults, or anyone with a weakened immune system. So, this is not one to ignore.
If you’ve recently bought chocolate from Wilbur or anything using Wilbur chocolate as an ingredient, check the packaging and batch numbers. If you're not sure, the safest move is to toss it or return it.
This Wilbur recall is part of a larger pattern of food contamination recalls this week. So, if your sweet tooth led you to chocolate in the past few days, it's worth double-checking your stash.
Raw Farm Cheese E. Coli Recall Expands
Meanwhile, Raw Farm also issued a cheese recall in June 2025 due to E. coli concerns. The bacteria were detected in raw cheddar cheese products and, while no illnesses have been confirmed yet, E. coli can cause serious health problems, including severe stomach cramps, diarrhea, and, in some cases, more serious complications.
Raw Farm is asking customers to check the label and lot numbers on any raw cheddar they’ve purchased. Affected products should be returned to the store or thrown away immediately.
This is the latest in a string of FDA food recall list 2025 announcements. So, if you’re a fan of artisanal or raw dairy, definitely take a moment to check what’s in your fridge.
Previously Recalled: Kilwins Chocolate and Trader Joe’s Cheese
If this feels like déjà vu, you're not wrong. Just last week, Kilwins recalled its Mocha Truffles due to an undeclared pecan allergen. While not a contamination issue, it posed a serious risk for anyone with nut allergies. Those chocolates were sold at nine Kilwins locations across seven states.
Meanwhile, Trader Joe’s pulled cheese curds made by Face Rock Creamery over potential Listeria contamination. That product was found in Northern California and Northern Nevada stores.
