If you work at a café or bubble tea shop — or bought any specialty drink mix powders recently — there's a nationwide recall worth checking against your inventory.

SKS Copack has recalled a wide range of powdered beverage and dessert mix products sold under multiple brand names after discovering that an ingredient supplied by California Dairies Inc. may be contaminated with salmonella. The FDA published the notice on May 23. No illnesses have been reported so far.

The recalled products are sold under the Angel Specialty Products, Royal Gold, Boba Time, Fanale, and Denda brand names and cover flavors including matcha green tea, taro, caramel latte, coconut, horchata, white chocolate, milk tea, strawberry soft serve, Dutch mocha, Italian yogurt, pistachio, ube-taro, and French vanilla.

These products were distributed to cafes, restaurants, and through direct delivery across 25 states — California, Utah, Idaho, New York, New Jersey, Arizona, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Texas, Ohio, Louisiana, Georgia, Florida, Illinois, Oklahoma, Massachusetts, Washington, Oregon, Wisconsin, Nevada, Virginia, Connecticut, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Minnesota.

Why This Matters

This is the same California Dairies milk powder contamination issue that has been rippling through the food supply for weeks now — the same supplier problem that triggered recalls on Ghirardelli chocolate drink mixes, Aldi breakfast pizza, and other products. A single contaminated ingredient in a shared supply chain can touch dozens of finished products across completely unrelated brands.

Salmonella is no small concern. The FDA notes it can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections — particularly in young children, older adults, and anyone with a weakened immune system. Symptoms in healthy people include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal cramps. In rare cases it spreads into the bloodstream and becomes significantly more dangerous.

What to Do

Return any affected products to wherever you purchased them for a full refund. If you have questions contact SKS Copack at (562) 404-8158 Monday through Friday between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. Pacific time.
