Chocolate is the universal reward for surviving a long day, a bad meeting, or a grocery run that cost far more than expected.

So, news of an expanded chocolate recall is the kind of thing that could send us digging through our kitchen cabinets for wrappers and batch numbers.

A growing chocolate recall in 2026 is now affecting multiple Spring & Mulberry products after the company expanded an earlier recall tied to possible salmonella contamination concerns.

The Spring and Mulberry Recall Has Expanded Significantly

The original issue began earlier this year with a recall involving the company’s Mint Leaf Date-Sweetened Chocolate Bar

Now, the expanded Spring and Mulberry recall includes all finished chocolate products made with a specific lot of date ingredient believed to be the likely source of contamination.

The affected flavors include:

  • Blood Orange

  • Coffee

  • Earl Grey

  • Lavender Rose

  • Mango Chili

  • Mint Leaf

  • Mixed Berry

  • Mulberry Fennel

  • Pecan Date

  • Pure Dark

  • Sea Salt

These products were sold online and in stores, beginning in August 2025.

What to Know About the Salmonella Chocolate Recall

According to the company, all finished products tested negative for Salmonella, and there have been no confirmed illnesses connected to the Salmonella chocolate recall so far.

But, the recall was expanded after the company completed a deeper investigation into the ingredient supply chain.

Health officials say Salmonella symptoms can include:

  • Fever

  • Stomach cramps

  • Diarrhea

  • Vomiting

  • Dehydration

Young children, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems are usually at the highest risk for more serious complications.

Check Your Pantry Before Dessert Tonight

If you purchased the affected products, don’t eat them. You can request a refund by contacting Spring & Mulberry at recalls@springandmulberry.com. Just be sure to include a photo with the lot code.

These chocolate bars being recalled for Salmonella are another important reminder that ingredient-related recalls can spread quickly, once investigators trace a problem back to the supply chain.

For now, the best thing we can do is double-check our product labels and batch codes before sitting down to enjoy a bite of chocolate tonight.
