If you've been putting off filing that Trader Joe's settlement claim, now’s the time to act.

The deadline to file a claim in the grocery chain's $7.4 million settlement is June 9th, and eligible shoppers could receive an estimated payment of about $102, though the final amount will depend on how many valid claims are submitted.

Why Is Trader Joe's Paying a Settlement?

The Trader Joe's class action settlement stems from allegations that some store receipts printed more card information than federal law allows.

According to court filings, the lawsuit claimed that certain receipts issued between March 5, 2019, and July 19, 2019, displayed both the first six and last four digits of customers' credit or debit card numbers.

The complaint alleged that this violated the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act, commonly known as FACTA.

Trader Joe's has denied wrongdoing, but agreed to settle the case, rather than continue with lengthy litigation.

Who May Be Eligible for a Trader Joe's Payout?

The settlement applies to certain shoppers who used a credit or debit card at affected Trader Joe's stores during the 2019 time period covered by the lawsuit.

Not every store and not every transaction was affected.

Eligible claimants are currently estimated to receive about $102.45 each, although the final Trader Joe's payout could be higher or lower, depending on the number of approved claims and settlement costs.

How to File a Trader Joe's Settlement Claim

The easiest way to file a Trader Joe's settlement claim is through the official settlement website.

Claims may also be submitted by mail or by phone through the settlement administrator.

Some customers received a notice with a Class ID and PIN, but options are available if you’re uncertain if you were included in the settlement.

The Clock Is Running Out

The deadline for this FACTA settlement is June 9, 2026.

After that, eligible shoppers who haven’t submitted claims will generally lose the opportunity to receive a payment from the settlement fund.

Settlement stories pop up all the time, but this one has a relatively short deadline and a potentially meaningful payment.

And, if you were shopping at Trader Joe's during the spring and summer of 2019, it may be worth spending a few minutes to see if you're eligible.
