If you filed a claim in Cash App's security settlement back in 2024, you might have some money coming your way. It's been quite a wait, but payments from the $15 million Cash App settlement are expected to begin this October.

The settlement follows a lawsuit over security problems that may have exposed customers' personal information and left some dealing with unauthorized transactions.

So, who's getting paid, and how much money could be involved? Let's find out.

The trouble began with security incidents involving Cash App and its parent company, Block. In one case, a former employee accessed customer records without permission. Another involved someone gaining access to certain accounts through recycled phone numbers. Some customers also reported fraudulent transactions and difficulties getting account problems resolved.

Those incidents eventually led to a class-action lawsuit, with Cash App and Block agreeing to a $15 million settlement. Neither company admitted wrongdoing, but the agreement allowed the case to move forward without a trial.

A federal judge gave the settlement final approval on March 27, 2025.

Who Qualifies for Cash App Settlement Payments?

Not every Cash App customer qualifies for a check. The Cash App settlement covered certain people whose accounts or personal information were affected between August 23, 2018, and August 20, 2024.

According to the official settlement website, qualifying issues are:

  • Personal information accessed or obtained without permission

  • Unauthorized access to Cash App or Cash App Investing accounts

  • Fraudulent withdrawals or transfers

  • Difficulties resolving certain account errors or disputed transactions

But there's an important catch. Even if you experienced one of these problems, you had to submit a valid claim before the deadline to receive compensation.

How Much Money Could Customers Receive?

Here's the part most people are interested in. Customers could request up to $2,500 for qualifying expenses related to the security incidents, including certain financial losses.

The settlement also offered compensation for time spent dealing with the problems. Claimants could request $25 per hour for up to three hours, bringing that portion of the payment to a maximum of $75. Anyone who documented certain unauthorized transactions could qualify for additional reimbursement under the settlement rules.

But don't start planning how to spend $2,500 just yet. That's the maximum for certain eligible expenses, not the amount everyone will receive. Individual payments depend on the losses reported, supporting documentation, and the money available in the settlement fund.

When Will Cash App Settlement Payments Arrive?

The good news is that the wait may finally be coming to an end.

In the September 28, 2026 update, the settlement administrator said that approved claims would be paid in October. Reviews of incomplete claims and appeals have also wrapped up, clearing another hurdle in the process.

However, there's no single payment date listed for everyone. If your claim was approved, keep an eye out for updates throughout the month.

Unfortunately, if you missed the original filing window, you're out of luck for this particular settlement. The Cash App settlement deadline was November 18, 2024, and new claims are no longer being accepted.

That includes customers who may have experienced problems related to the Cash App data breach, but didn't submit their paperwork in time. For everyone who did file, there's nothing new to submit.

Where to Find the Latest Payment Information

If you're waiting for your Cash App settlement payments, the settlement website is the best place to look for updates. You can also contact an administrator at 1-866-615-9740 with questions about the case.

And here's something worth remembering as payments start to arrive. Be wary of unexpected texts or emails asking for passwords, login codes, or banking information. Scammers love an opportunity involving money, and a legitimate settlement won’t require you to share sensitive login details.

The Long Wait for Payments Is Almost Over

If you filed your claim two years ago, there's finally some good news. The paperwork has been reviewed, the appeals have been handled, and payments are expected to start arriving this month.

Now comes the part everyone’s been waiting for: seeing whether that claim turns into money in the bank.
