'The Kelly Clarkson Show' to End After 7 Seasons

Kelly Clarkson is ending her daytime talk show after seven seasons, and she's being pretty straightforward about why.

The singer and host posted a statement on Instagram February 2 confirming "The Kelly Clarkson Show" is wrapping up after this season. After seven years of daily interviews, "Kellyoke" performances, and viral moments, she's stepping away. And the reason comes down to her kids.

"I have been extremely fortunate to work with such an outstanding group of people at ('The Kelly Clarkson Show'), both in Los Angeles and New York," she wrote. "There have been so many amazing moments and shows over these seven seasons. I am forever grateful and honored to have worked alongside the greatest band and crew you could hope for, all the talent and inspiring people who have shared their time and lives with us, all the fans who have supported our show, and to NBC for always being such a supportive and incredible partner."

The crew made it tough to walk away. You can tell from how she wrote about them that leaving wasn't something she took lightly.

"Because of all that, this was not an easy decision — but this season will be my last hosting TKCS," she continued. "Stepping away from the daily schedule will allow me to prioritize my kids, which feels necessary and right for this next chapter of our lives."

Her Kids Come First

Clarkson shares 11-year-old daughter River Rose and 9-year-old son Remy with her late ex-husband Brandon Blackstock. In August 2025, Blackstock's family shared he died at 48 following a three-year battle with Melanoma.

That loss changed everything. Clarkson wants to focus on raising her kids now. The daily grind of a talk show—filming, interviews, performances, everything that goes into producing a show five days a week—doesn't leave much room for being present as a parent. Especially when your kids just lost their father.

She's choosing them.

What Happens Next

The show's ending, but Clarkson made it clear she's not disappearing from entertainment entirely.

"I'll still be making music, playing shows here and there, and you may catch me on 'The Voice' from time to time'…you never know where I might show up next," she said.

"But for now, I want to thank y'all so much for allowing our show to be a part of your lives, and for believing in us and hanging with us for seven incredible years."

New episodes of Season 7 will keep airing through fall 2026, so the show's got most of the year left. The show confirmed that in a press release. Staff and crew found out the same day Clarkson told viewers. Nobody got blindsided weeks later. Everyone heard at the same time.

The Show's Seven-Year Run

"The Kelly Clarkson Show" launched in 2019 and immediately became a hit. It gave the Grammy winner a platform to show off both her interviewing skills and her vocals at the same time. The "Kellyoke" segments—where she covered songs at the start of each episode—went viral constantly. Her interviews went viral. The show felt different from other daytime talk shows because Clarkson brought genuine energy and wasn't afraid to be herself.

The show earned 24 Daytime Emmy Awards during its run. That's not nothing. Twenty-four Emmys in seven seasons means the show was doing something right. Critics liked it. Audiences liked it. The industry recognized it.

But none of that changes what Clarkson needs right now, which is time with her kids after they lost their dad.

The Reality of the Decision

Clarkson didn't have to end the show. It was successful. It was winning awards. NBC clearly wanted to keep it going—they've been "such a supportive and incredible partner," according to her statement. She could've kept doing it for years.

But her ex-husband died last August after a three-year cancer battle. Her kids are 11 and 9. They need their mom around more than they need her hosting a talk show. And Clarkson seems to have figured out that the daily schedule of a talk show doesn't work for what her family needs right now. It’s certainly an admirable decision.
