Stevie Nicks' Only Brother, Christopher Aaron Nicks, Has Died at 72

Christopher Aaron Nicks died in the early morning hours of September 4 after a two-and-a-half-year battle with cancer. He was 72. He kept the diagnosis almost entirely to himself.

His daughter, Nixi Parkinson Nicks, announced his death on Instagram — posting a photo of herself holding her father's hand at his bedside with the caption: "Second star to the right, and straight on till morning. I love you, daddy. Rest easy."

In a longer Facebook post she explained why the news might be catching people off guard. "Some of you may know that he has spent the last 2.5 years battling a cancer diagnosis, and to some this may come as a shock," Nixi wrote. Her father never disclosed his illness publicly because he simply didn't want anyone to worry. He died surrounded by family.

"I know that he has left his mark on so many people, and this will leave many more than his immediate family with a piece of them missing," she wrote. "Rest easy, Coach. We will see you in Neverland."

Stevie Nicks, 78, had not publicly commented on her brother's death as of this writing. Christopher was her only sibling — five years younger, born December 18, 1953, to a family that moved frequently across the American Southwest because of their father's career.

Who He Was

Christopher Nicks lived a much quieter life than his famous sister, but he was quietly woven into the fabric of her career for decades.
