Powerball Results for Sept. 3: Jackpot Soars to $1.7 Billion After No Winner
Powerball Jackpot Climbs to $1.7 Billion After No Winner on Sept. 3
The Powerball jackpot continues its historic climb after no one claimed the massive prize in the Wednesday, September 3, 2025, drawing. The estimated jackpot now stands at an incredible $1.7 billion, making it the third-largest in U.S. lottery history.
The winning numbers drawn on September 3 were 3, 16, 29, 61, 69 with the red Powerball 22. The Power Play multiplier was 2x. Despite millions of tickets sold, no player matched all six numbers needed to secure the jackpot.
The jackpot had already swelled to $1.44 billion ahead of Wednesday’s drawing, offering a lump-sum cash option of $654.3 million. With no winner, the prize will grow even larger for the next drawing.
When is the Next Powerball Drawing?
The next drawing is scheduled for Saturday, September 6, at 11 p.m. ET. The jackpot is projected at $1.7 billion, with a lump-sum cash payout option estimated at $770 million before taxes.
Historic Streak Without a Winner
Saturday’s drawing will mark the 42nd consecutive drawing without a jackpot winner, setting a new record for the longest run in Powerball history. The last time someone won the jackpot was on May 31, 2025, in California.
How to Play Powerball
Powerball tickets cost $2 each and are available in 45 states, plus Washington D.C., Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Players select five numbers from 1 to 69, plus one Powerball number from 1 to 26. Adding the $1 “Power Play” option increases non-jackpot winnings by up to 10 times.
A jackpot win requires matching all five white balls in any order plus the red Powerball. Drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday night.
The Odds of Winning
While the jackpot has grown to eye-popping levels, the odds remain steep. The chance of hitting the jackpot is 1 in 292.2 million. Even so, millions continue to buy tickets in hopes of striking it rich.
