Passengers on a recent flight to Indianapolis got an unexpected treat when Nick Offerman turned a routine announcement into a scene straight from Parks and Recreation

The actor spotted his former co-star Jim O’Heir on the same flight and decided to have some fun in true Ron Swanson fashion.

Ron Swanson Takes the Intercom

Before landing in Indianapolis, Offerman grabbed the plane’s intercom and delivered a tongue-in-cheek safety announcement, using the same dry humor that made Ron Swanson one of TV’s most beloved characters.

The surprise performance quickly became a viral Parks and Recreation prank, earning laughter from passengers and fans alike.

Offerman ended his mock announcement with a playful nod to O’Heir’s character, Jerry Gergich. He reminded travelers with “Gergich, Larry, Barry, or Gary” in their name to behave themselves while visiting Muncie, a city that longtime fans know was central to Jerry’s running gag on the show.

A Perfect In-Flight Reunion

After finishing his announcement, Offerman returned to his seat and shared a quick laugh with Jim O’Heir, who later posted the video on Instagram

The clip shows the two co-stars smiling at one another, clearly enjoying a spontaneous reunion nearly a decade after the series ended.

O’Heir followed up with a selfie from Indianapolis International Airport, confirming he had no idea Offerman was on board until he heard his friend’s unmistakable voice over the speaker.

The playful exchange captured the same warmth and humor that made their on-screen chemistry a fan favorite.

Fans React to the Viral Clip

The video quickly spread across social media, racking up hundreds of thousands of views within hours. Fans flooded the comments with nostalgia, praising Offerman for keeping the spirit of Pawnee alive.

Several travelers on the flight shared their own clips, describing the moment as “pure Ron Swanson energy.”

Entertainment outlets, including People, Today, and Entertainment Weekly, quickly picked up the story, sparking a wave of enthusiasm from longtime fans of the show. Many commented that the prank felt like an outtake from a lost episode, celebrating the cast’s ability to stay connected with their audience even years later.

The Legacy of “Parks and Recreation”

The NBC comedy ran from 2009 to 2015 and continues to attract new viewers through streaming platforms like Peacock and Netflix. The Parks and Recreation reunion between Offerman and O’Heir reminded fans just how much affection remains for the ensemble cast.

In 2025, Parks and Recreation still stands as one of television’s most rewatchable comedies, praised for its heart, small-town charm, and the chemistry of its cast.

Other actors from the series, including Amy Poehler, Aubrey Plaza, and Chris Pratt, have reunited for interviews and charity events, introducing the show’s humor and warmth to a whole new generation of fans.

The Spirit of Pawnee Lives On

Nick Offerman, who recently appeared in the hit series The Last of Us, continues to balance dramatic roles with the kind of grounded humor that defined Ron Swanson.

His latest prank only reinforced what viewers already know: the heart of Parks and Recreation lies in its mix of friendship, wit, and perfectly timed comedy.

Even years after it wrapped, the warmth between the cast is totally visible. The mid-air prank may have lasted only a few minutes, but, for fans, it was a reminder that Pawnee’s humor never really left the skies.
