Netflix Raises Prices — Here Is What Each Plan Costs Now
Netflix has announced a new round of price increases for U.S. subscribers, its first since January 2025. The changes affect all subscription tiers, with ad-free plans seeing the largest jump.
New members will see the updated prices immediately. Current subscribers will be notified by email at least one month before the new rates take effect, with the exact timing depending on their individual billing cycle.
What Each Plan Now Costs
The standard ad-supported tier increases by $1 to $8.99 per month. Subscribers on this plan can watch in HD, access most movies, TV shows and games, and stream or download on two devices at a time.
The standard ad-free tier rises by $2 to $19.99 per month. It includes unlimited ad-free access to movies, TV shows and games, HD streaming, two supported devices, and the option to add one extra member who does not live in the same household.
The premium tier sees the steepest increase, jumping $4 to $26.99 per month. It includes 4K and HDR streaming with spatial audio, four supported devices, downloads on up to six devices, and the option to add up to two extra members outside the household.
Adding an extra non-household member also increases by $1 across plans. Adding a member to a plan with ads is now $7.99 per month, while adding one to any other plan is $9.99.
A Growing Subscriber Base
Netflix currently has more than 325 million paying subscribers globally, a figure the company reported in January. The price increase comes as the streamer continues to expand its content and live events offering.
"We know members have never had more choices in entertainment and we're committed to delivering an experience that meets and exceeds their expectations," Netflix said in a statement.
Recent Wins and What's Coming
The price hike follows a strong awards season for Netflix. The streamer won three Oscars for "Frankenstein" and two for "KPop Demon Hunters" at this year's Academy Awards. A sequel to the animated "KPop Demon Hunters" has since been announced.
Netflix also recently broadcast MLB's Opening Day game between the New York Yankees and the San Francisco Giants, with more live sports on the calendar. Upcoming events include the Tyson Fury vs. Arslanbek Makhmudov boxing match on April 11, MLB's Home Run Derby on July 13, and the Field of Dreams game on August 13.
On the content side, Netflix has a packed slate ahead, including "BTS: Comeback Concert" and documentary "BTS: The Return" in late March, "Apex" starring Charlize Theron in April, a new "Narnia" film adaptation in December, and Season 2 of "Avatar: The Last Airbender" later this year.
