Miley Cyrus Engaged to Musician Maxx Morando After Four Years
Miley Cyrus is officially heading into what fans are already calling her wedding “Flowers” era. The singer, 33, is engaged to musician Maxx Morando after more than four years together, a source confirmed to PEOPLE. The engagement follows weeks of speculation after Cyrus stepped out wearing a diamond ring that immediately drew attention.
A Red Carpet Reveal
Rumors escalated on December 1 when Cyrus attended the Avatar: Fire and Ash world premiere in Los Angeles with Morando at her side. Photographers captured the pair posing together, and Cyrus prominently displayed a cushion-cut diamond ring on her left hand. According to jewelry designer Jacquie Aiche’s team, Aiche created the “bespoke” piece, which features a cushion-cut stone set on a thick 14-karat yellow gold band.
Cyrus had been spotted wearing the ring as early as mid-November, according to Deux Moi. Page Six was the first to report the news of the engagement.
A Relationship Years in the Making
Cyrus and Morando, 27, were first linked in December 2021 after being photographed together backstage at Miley’s New Year’s Eve Party in Miami. In April 2022, their relationship appeared confirmed when the couple was seen kissing while out in West Hollywood.
In a June 2023 cover story for British Vogue, Cyrus explained the story behind their first meeting. “We got put on a blind date,” she said. “Well, it was blind for me and not really for him. I thought, ‘The worst that can happen is I leave.’”
Their six-year age difference has come up publicly, including in a November 2024 interview with Harper’s Bazaar. Cyrus said their dynamic works because they “just don’t take life too seriously,” though she joked about their generational differences, adding, “Honestly, he’s raised our dog off Reddit. I’m like, ‘Are you sure we’re supposed to be doing this?’ And he’s like, ‘On Reddit it says blah, blah, blah.’”
Moving In and Moving Forward
By March 2024, the couple had taken a major step when a source told PEOPLE they were living together. “She is very happy with him,” the insider said at the time, adding, “Miley has changed a lot in the past couple of years. She seems more calm and harmonious. Everyone loves Maxx. He’s a great guy. He’s private and doesn’t like being in the press. It’s been good for her.”
Cyrus has also contrasted her relationship with Morando to her past dating experiences. During a September conversation with The Cut, she reflected on her mother teaching her the wrong traits to prioritize in partners. With Morando, she said, “I ended up with a person who means a lot to me and treats me really well and respects me.” She added with affection, “My man’s hot as hell … but my man also respects me.”
Creative Partners as Well
Beyond their personal life, Cyrus and Morando have collaborated professionally. Morando, who plays drums for the band Liily, contributed to two tracks—“Handstand” and “Violet Chemistry”—on Cyrus’ 2023 album Endless Summer Vacation. He also produced multiple songs on her ninth album, Something Beautiful, and co-wrote the title track.
At the 2024 Grammys, Cyrus won Record of the Year for “Flowers” and included a nod to Morando in her acceptance speech, calling him “my love.” The sweet acknowledgment underscored how intertwined their professional and personal lives had become in recent years.
A New Chapter Ahead
The engagement marks Cyrus’ first since her marriage to actor Liam Hemsworth, which lasted from December 2018 to August 2019. In the years since, Cyrus has spoken openly about personal growth, boundaries, and redefining what she wants in relationships.
With the engagement now confirmed, Cyrus appears to be entering this next chapter with a sense of clarity, stability, and excitement. While the couple has not commented publicly, the ring, the red carpet appearance, and the confirmation from multiple sources signal that the singer’s life is moving into a new, more settled era—one that fans will undoubtedly follow closely.
