Marvel fan? Love Pixar? Into timeless classics brought to life? This year promises a cinematic feast.
Here's a rundown of the most anticipated movies hitting theaters in 2026.
Return to Silent Hill
The year kicks off with chills and thrills as Return to Silent Hill hits theaters at the end of January. Starring Jeremy Irvine and Hannah Emily Anderson with returning fan favorites, this third installment of the Silent Hill series is packed with terrifying scenes and a gripping storyline.
Wuthering Heights
Just in time for Valentine's Day, Warner Bros. brings us Wuthering Heights, an adaptation of Emily Brontë's classic 1847 novel. Directed by BAFTA and Academy Award winner Emerald Fennell, this tantilizing film stars Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi.
Project Hail Mary
For sci-fi enthusiasts, Project Hail Mary lands March 20. Directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, and written by Drew Goddard, this film adapts Andy Weir's thrilling novel. Ryan Gosling leads a stellar cast including Sandra Hüller, Lionel Boyce, Ken Leung, and Milana Vayntrub.
The Devil Wears Prada 2
Fashion and drama make a glamorous comeback on May 1 with The Devil Wears Prada 2. Iconic stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci all return.
Nobody asked for a sequel to a perfect movie from 2006, but we are getting one anyway.
The Mandalorian and Grogu
Star Wars fans can celebrate. The Mandalorian and Grogu hits theaters on May 22, bringing back beloved characters after a six-year hiatus. Created by Jon Favreau, Dave Filoni, and George Lucas, the film promises more adventures in a galaxy far, far away.

Toy Story 5

Toy Story 3 had a perfect ending. Toy Story 4 was fine. Toy Story 5 feels like pushing it, but Pixar usually delivers.
Supergirl
On June 26, DC fans get Supergirl. Directed by Craig Gillespie, the live-action adaptation stars Milly Alcock and Matthias Schoenaerts. The DC film follows Kara Zor-El on a darker, more personal journey across the galaxy, reintroducing the character as a hardened survivor rather than the hopeful counterpart to Superman.
Minions 3
Summer fun kicks off on July 1 with Minions 3. Directed by Pierre Coffin and written by Brian Lynch, this animated comedy continues the adventures of the mischievous yellow characters.

Moana
On July 10, Disney brings Moana to life in a live-action spectacle. Catherine Laga'a stars as Moana alongside Dwayne Johnson. It will be directed by Thomas Kail.
Disney's live-action remake machine continues churning. At least this one's recent enough that kids who loved the original will still be kids when it arrives.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day
The friendly neighborhood superhero swings back into action on July 31 with Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon, and Stranger Things star Sadie Sink lead the cast. Destin Daniel Cretton directs. Written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers.
Narnia: The Magician's Nephew
November 26, Narnia: The Magician's Nephew debuts on Netflix, reigniting the magic of Narnia. Stars Emma Mackey, Carey Mulligan, Denise Gough, and Daniel Craig will bring the story to life. This fantasy adventure directed by Greta Gerwig adapts C.S. Lewis's beloved book.

Jumanji 3
Adventure lovers will rejoice in December with the untitled Jumanji: The Next Level sequel. Starring Jack Black, Dwayne Johnson, and Karen Gillan, the film promises action-packed sequences and hilarious moments. Directed by Jake Kasdan, this third installment is already being hyped as one of the year's biggest releases.
Avengers: Doomsday
December 18 marks the return of the Marvel Universe with Avengers: Doomsday. The film features a cast of Chris Hemsworth, Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson, Tom Hiddleston, and many more. Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo.
Marvel is bringing back the Russos and half the original Avengers cast for what's basically a reset button after a rough few years. It could work.
Dune: Part Three
Finally, 2026 ends on a cosmic high with Dune: Part Three. Directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh, and Jason Momoa, this production has been underway since July 2025.
2026's movie lineup is heavy on sequels, live-action remakes, and superhero franchises. Not a ton of original IP, but that's Hollywood in 2026. Whether 2026 actually delivers on these promises depends on execution. But on paper at least, it's a solid lineup with something for basically everyone.
