Plans are moving forward for a large-scale Dracula theme park near Romania, positioning the country for one of its most ambitious tourism projects to date.

The proposed development, referred to as Dracula Land Bucharest, has an estimated price tag of $1.17 billion.

If completed, it would rank among the largest themed attractions in Eastern Europe, making it quite the smash hit in terms of Bucharest's new attractions.

A Story-Driven Park Built Around Gothic Legends

Rather than operating as a traditional amusement park, the project is designed around immersive storytelling.

Developers have outlined a plan for themed environments inspired by vampire mythology, Gothic literature, and regional folklore.

Attractions will include roller coasters, water features, maze-style experiences, and family-friendly rides.

Some areas will lean into Transylvanian imagery, while others will draw inspiration from Victorian London and the theatrical energy of New Orleans.

The goal, according to project materials, is to create a destination that blends entertainment, atmosphere, and a narrative experience, rather than focusing only on thrill rides.

A Digital Layer and Branded Experiences

There will also be a digital extension of the park. This would take the form of a virtual environment connected to the on-site experience, likely an interactive app.

Developers have also proposed a branded token system that could be used in both digital and in-person settings. Specific details about how that system would function haven’t been finalized yet.

Hotels, Entertainment, and Surrounding Development

The theme park is only one part of a much broader Bucharest tourism development plan.

That includes three Dracula-themed hotels in Romania with a combined total of approximately 1,200 rooms.

Additional amenities will include an aqua park, thermal spa, retail and dining areas, and a large indoor arena to host concerts, festivals, and other major events.

A racing and motor park has also been mentioned as part of the wider site. All this suggests Dracula Land will operate year-round, rather than seasonally.

Location, Jobs, and Timeline

The proposed site will cover roughly 8.4 million square feet and is located about 20 minutes from Bucharest’s city center, with easy access to Henri Coandă International Airport.

According to official project estimates, the development should support more than 5,000 direct and indirect jobs across the tourism, technology, and service industries.

The projected economic impact is several billion dollars throughout the course of a decade.

An official opening could take place after next year, making this the most closely watched Romanian theme park in 2027.

Still, we’ll have to wait and see because ticket prices and final construction timelines haven’t been announced yet.

From Folklore to Modern Tourism

Bram Stoker’s Dracula drew inspiration from Eastern European folklore and set part of the story in Romania’s Carpathian Mountains, shaping the country’s enduring association with the vampire legend.

This project will transform that literary connection into a modern destination designed for international visitors. If you’re a lover of all things gothic, this is the trip to add to your 2027 bucket list.
