Carrie Underwood Reportedly Burned Out by Farm Work
For Carrie Underwood, country living has always been more than a lifestyle choice — it’s part of her identity. The Grammy-winning singer has often spoken about her love of the outdoors, gardening, and raising her family in the quiet of Franklin, Tennessee. But according to those close to her, life on her sprawling 400-acre farm has recently turned into a round-the-clock challenge that is leaving her exhausted.
From Dream Farm to Daily Grind
Underwood, who shares the property with husband Mike Fisher and their two sons, Isaiah and Jacob, has long embraced the back-to-the-land way of life. She built a greenhouse, tends fruit trees, and manages multiple gardens, in addition to caring for a large number of animals.
But sources claim that the workload has become overwhelming. “It’s become too much for her to maintain, and she’s getting no sleep because she’s up at the crack of dawn taking care of all these animals,” one insider told RadarOnline.
What may appear idyllic on social media, with snapshots of eggs fresh from the chicken coop and ripe mandarins picked from her greenhouse, is reportedly far more grueling in reality. Friends say her days include “shoveling hay, weeding, fertilizing, harvesting, and then there are the repairs that never end.”
A Greenhouse Success Story
Just last year, Underwood proudly showed fans the first harvest from her 16-by-28-foot greenhouse, which features multiple planting beds and outdoor raised gardens. Sharing a picture of her freshly picked mandarins on Instagram, she wrote, “Ahhhhh!!!! Picked my first mandarins today! I’m so excited!!!!”
That excitement extended to limes, too, which she showed off in a now-expired Instagram story. For the “Before He Cheats” hitmaker, the greenhouse symbolized her farm-to-table dream of providing fresh food for her family.
But insiders say the reality of maintaining such a large property has taken its toll, particularly as she juggles farm life with her career, motherhood, and television appearances.
“It looks beautiful from the outside,” one source said, “but the demands never stop.”
Other Challenges in the Spotlight
These reported farm frustrations come as Underwood faces scrutiny in other aspects of her career. She was recently criticized during the finale of American Idol after fans accused her of showing little enthusiasm when winner Jamal Roberts performed and was crowned champion. While her fellow judges stood and cheered, Underwood remained seated — a reaction that sparked backlash on social media.
She has also endured tough moments on stage. During her performance at President Donald Trump’s inauguration, a technical mishap cut her backing track. Left without music, she encouraged the crowd to sing along, but sources later said she was unhappy with the setup and felt the event was poorly handled.
Despite these bumps, Underwood continues to balance her music career, television commitments, and rural lifestyle. Friends say she remains committed to raising her children in Franklin, where the family can enjoy privacy and space, even if it comes with never-ending work.
