Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden Welcome Third Child — and Reveal His Unique Name
Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden have secretly welcomed their third child, and the Good Charlotte musician made the announcement on May 4 with a heartfelt Instagram post that doubled as a beautifully illustrated introduction to their new son's nautical-inspired name.
"Cameron and I are Happy, Excited, and feeling so BLESSED to announce the birth of our third Child, Nautas Madden. Welcome to the world Son!!" Madden wrote, adding a fist bump and heart emoji.
A Name With Deep Meaning
Benji Madden didn't just share a name — he shared the story behind it. The couple revealed that Nautas comes from the Latin word "nauta," meaning "sailor, navigator, voyager." Madden described the name as representing "one who embarks on a journey and fears not the unknown."
The announcement post was a full Instagram carousel with hand-illustrated artwork. A navy blue and gold pirate ship flying a large "N" flag served as the centerpiece. Madden signed off with the kind of seafaring sentiment that fits the name perfectly: "Every single legend begins with a single voyage. Chart your own course. Keep your compass true. In keeping with their past baby announcements, the couple did not share any photos of Nautas himself. The imagery in the post instead carried the message — and the love.
A Nod to the Whole Family
Madden used the post to celebrate all three of their children. Tucked into the carousel alongside Nautas's ship illustration were two other pieces of artwork that clearly referenced his older siblings. A painting of a red cardinal appeared in honor of their son Cardinal, 2, and a green plant growing in a pink pot represented their daughter Raddix, 6 — whose name derives from the Latin word meaning "root" or "source."
It was a thoughtful touch that turned an announcement about a new baby into a tribute to the whole Madden family. Benji made that warmth explicit in his caption: "We love life with our family — our kids are healthy and happy, and we are grateful!!! Having a blast. Diaz, 53, and Madden, 47, have been married since January 2015 after a whirlwind courtship. Their daughter Raddix arrived in January 2020, and their son Cardinal was born in March 2024. Diaz famously stepped back from Hollywood after marrying Madden, though she returned to acting in 2024 with a Netflix project.
