Actress Linda Blair's Property Searched Over Reported 100-Dog Kennel
Actress Linda Blair's Southern California property was searched Friday, July 31, as authorities investigate a reported kennel operation on her land allegedly housing more than 100 dogs.
The search was carried out under an inspection warrant as part of a joint operation between the Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) and the Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning, according to a statement shared with People. Officials said the goal was to inspect buildings and structures associated with the reported kennel operation, evaluate the welfare of the dogs on the property, and determine whether the site complies with county codes.
"The goal is to inspect this property for buildings and structures associated with a kennel operation reported to have more than 100 dogs," the department said in a statement.
Why Officials Sought a Warrant
According to officials, the kennel facility's permits had expired in 2023, and multiple attempts by both county agencies to reach the property owner had reportedly gone unanswered. "The warrant allows us to lawfully access the property and verify compliance with County codes," the department said.
Animal Care and Control officials said their specific role during the operation was to evaluate "animal care, safety conditions, and overall welfare of the dogs housed on the property."
Since the investigation remains active, DACC said it's limited in what additional information it can share at this time. "As this is an active and ongoing investigation, DACC is not able to answer specific questions about this case at this time," the statement continued. "DACC appreciates the public's concern and want to assure everyone that the Department is committed to ensuring all kennel operations meet legal requirements and provide humane care."
No Dogs Removed So Far
According to TMZ, which first reported the search, Blair was "extremely cooperative" throughout the inspection, and no dogs were removed from the property.
Blair has been a longtime, public advocate for animal welfare through the Linda Blair Worldheart Foundation, an organization she founded focused on rescuing and rehabilitating dogs. She has appeared at events including the American Rescue Dog Show in support of that work.
Representatives for Blair have not yet responded to requests for comment on the investigation.
